    PALAMOS

I am still two boxes missing there owners and still hope to get them but ! I see one bird in Telford and that is nice to know at least one has made it past 700mile belonging to J & T Barnett and daughter. FANTASTIC.
  2. Bugger it does annoy me when people say this is the only way. If you buy The flying vet by Dr Colin Walker and read you will find there are many ways to solve your problems whatever they are. Me I don't like to use antibiotics. I never seperate even strays. My methods would make most cringe but from a very tough Pau last year 634 mile I dropped 1 from 5 and none localy can live with my birds at that kind of distance. Best o' luck Debbie. Cider vinegar wont do any harm just kills the secondary infections of kanker and cocci

    PALAMOS

Twas 23 birds last night. Might be wrong but the longest flying bird may be Bristol. It aint been a good 'un but when Mick McGrevy gets one, then I will feel beaten cos his birds have to do over 800 mile. Bugger I'd feel great to beat him and some of the other longer flyers.

    PALAMOS

My birds have 751 miles to do and I don't think any have got this far as yet. Twas a tough one and all credit to those that have them. I aint given up hope yet though.
  5. Cider vinegar, Honey, Yoghurt, and Milton, Always in use here. YBS is a non event for me. Still waiting for my Palamos birds though.
  6. Sounds like young bird sickness to me too. Table spoon of cider vinegar in the water and a table spoon of natural yoghurt on the corn for a week. This will help by keeping cocci and kanker levels lower preventing a secondary infection. The birds natural immunity will then fight the YBS. I would always flock treat and never isolate. This way all birds build immunity of there own. Every time you race, your birds are gonna drink from the same drinkers as 20 possible strays.

    PALAMOS

Well done to the two flyers that have clocked. Still waiting here.
  8. Think you have some good advice on here. Hope all goes well and better than mine from Palamos 751m. Still waiting.
  9. Sent two for Palamos 751 mile and keep looking at another wondering about Barcelona 774 mile but he has had a bump that's why he aint gone to Palamos.

    Cruel or Kind?

My Thurso winner was sent to Lerwick for the third time of asking and didn't turn up for about 9 days put him straight back to Thurso and he won by a country mile after about 4 days in the pen. Send him
  11. Best o'luck mate. Can't compete with that, but I do have birds that won inland when younger then in top 200 in National at 300mile now going out to Palamos at 750 mile. I'd be more inclined to say. You can get some wins at the short races with distance birds, but don't think sprinters will hack it at the distance.
  12. I think if you had been on weatherpigeon you would see it said liberations were only likely in the east of France (Lillers) not the west. Just how far further down would you go. My son is working in Palamos and nearly got washed away. I'd have been happier with Thursday Lib.
  13. If you were a bit more specific with where you are there might be a fancier near by who will help. Nearest town would be good. Any seed and water will be fine for the pigeon.
  14. Got to agree totaly. I have one o' these and one o them and an odd stray. But tell you what not many can get 'em 600 mile better than me in our fed
  15. Can't be right I have bred a grizzle and a blue in one nest. Not a Grizzle in the loft and they were all prisoners. The stock were from a chap who had died and all birds were kept prisoner till I had young birds of my own to let out.
  16. Round the clock training I guess would be all points of the compass. I like to train 10 mile online for one week before the first race then anything goes. Where that truck goes the birds go too. My birds get well tested but, I keep wanting to go 20 mile first toss. May be this year.
  17. Tiz back with a ring, at least it's still got that mate, sooner that than none at all.
  18. Mate if you are near me I will breed some for you to start with. Ask on here people will help
  19. Not for me. Then mine only done three inland races before going to Falaise 244 miles but an 8 hour fly. Got 3 from 3 others in club got 0 from 5. 1 from 7 and 8 from 35
  20. I'd go for canker and split the pair cos one of 'em aint no good. Funny I lost all mine that came from or produced wet nests
  21. Mate I turned my south roaders into Perth the first year with bird flu NO TRAINING NORTH they did well just no north roaders round here I would love to fly Lerwick again
  22. Forget where you're gonna send. Trapping is the problem. If your bird is as good as you say 350 mile is no bother......... What you gonna do if he does well in the National and sits out for two hours. You have a top pigeon, don't spoil him leave him in the pen till you sort your trapping. We moved house last year and until recently didn't have time to fit my stall trap to my new loft. 3 inland races no birds clocked. Stall trap fitted on the sunday birds went with the BICC on the thursday and trapped fine after one week. With 12 birds home at night from 50 in Rugby club I must have something right as my third from my three that I sent dropped after eight and the other two were in the clock.
  23. birds love to fly canker and worms would be my first thought
  24. No doubt Micky has the best Maris in the country better than Petron
  25. Thanks Ace. Looks like it might be tough over the channel
