  1. I treat for cocci kanker and worms nothing else for me
  2. Try Shepherds they seem to be very knowlegeable and would probably point you in the right direction. They aint far from tigers ground. Best I can suggest.
  3. Well I don't intend to push, as me BMW 1100 is fairly heavy ;D
  4. Sounds like it might be a nice ride out on my bike then. Have wanted to see big lib for a long time. Thanks redcheqhen and tom123.
  5. Sounds right to me. I used to take em to work, and take 'em 50 60 mile all points of the compass. Last year, me old birds had two 10 mile training chucks, in to racing, 7 inland races 1 over the water. Then Palamos 751 mile. Kind of got to the point where I think, why do we train? My pigeon that did well from Tarbes still turned round and did just as well from Perth and he had never been raced North. If they are fit they don't need the work and if they have a good instinct they don't need teaching. Young birds are a whole different thing though. Hmm or are they?
  6. Is it a UNC / NEHU lib with similar birdage expected cos yes I do want to go
  7. Owen, what's the point keeping sickly pigeons. Your sick bird is telling you your management is wrong. One bird may be very ill but some may be carriers and others less sick. That sick bird is a valuable barrometer of your management. Leave your sick bird with the flock and treat the whole problem not one bird. One of my best hens has a tendency to a high cocci count but she still turns 'em out and is closely related to my Palamos pigeon.
  8. Chrissy, I didn't suggest other fanciers look in the mirror. I said it's what I do. I look at my management first every time. But I know I can get it right and get 'em 750+ miles. You can't send 'em that distance unless you know you've done your home work. We all make mistakes. When your birds aint right, 99% of the time its your management first.
  9. Well done you make more sence than most cull merchants.
  10. Try and trace it mate, tiz an offence. I doubt you will get any where but I'd have a go. Best o' luck.
  11. Yes you can do more cider vinegar and honey in the water and natural yogurt on the corn. So had Paula Radcliffe been a pigeon 90% of pigeon fanciers would have culled. The fact is she has been a top runner even if she does look awful when running. I know she has been ill too at times. If my birds get sick I look in the mirror before I blame them. When you know your management has been good then Barcelona is the biggest test for mine. I almost never cull and I never isolate.
  12. Mate mine have just started chipping out the first nest, but I will have some stock birds to go when I've bred from them. Tiz the best I can manage if you're interested.
  13. Got some Buscheaarts may be able to help later but they are on their first nest now.
  14. Fantastic brought a tear to me eye
  15. Why not Logans mate. Peckedhen has some beautys. I didn't want Logans either but these have to be worth a try.

Sounds like you got good answers to me, a big old rabbit sounds stupid, but I've heard of this more than once.
  17. Easy aint it ? I'll have two 600/700 milers please. Not saying you're wrong just people have different ideas !
  18. There's a lot to be said for this. If all birds are worth their corn, then they may will be happier and may well fly better. Just a thought. I put mine in four sections and let them pick, they don't get complete choice but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Sorry Lindsay, didn't see your posting on xc weather, but I don't come on as much as I used to. Lost interest in the site a bit these days. Thanks for the links Tony and Lindsay
  20. Last few years I've been using these two sites on a saturday. Any one know any more.
  21. Sounds about right to me. If you're gonna treat. Treat one week apart, Cocci, Kanker, Worms. Four weekly cycle for the first two and six weekly for worms. You should then find the birds wont be too troubled with respiratory. There again you can't get a cure for the common cold in humans why pigeons ?
  22. My birds are Krauths and the babbies in the nest are very dark long before the feathers come through
  23. Yes had same problem don't know the cause feathermite or feeders but treated for both possibilities and yes they do take time to come back.
  24. Mate if you install a memory pen or external hard drive. Click the window and E together twice, right click on the tool bar at the bottom, stack windows side by side. You can then open the external memory in one window, then open your race data file in the other window. Just drag the whole file across to the external memory source, and it will copy the whole file. Job done. I'm self employed and do this with my "self employed / invoices file on a weekly bassis." For April fools day I did this on two seperate back up systems, external hard drive and memory pen. PM me or give me a ring, am only 07834 811322. I work weekends. Tuesday and Wednesday are my days off.
  25. Ivermectin will get rid of the mite. Rubbing on the feeders is another possible cause. Once the feathers are gone, it will not be till they are fully moulted out that new feathers will come through. You can cure the problem easy, but the damage will look at you for a long time.
