I usually have 10/12 l breds to train every year which is usually Oct/Nov. Havent got round to it this year yet but their flying well just now and they will have to run the gauntlet soon. Maybe 6 tosses in fife out to 10mls. Then over the Forth with them at 15, 20, and 25 mls. Once thev'e been over the forth a couple of times I have more confidence in them. Iv'e had ylg L Breds right out to the coast as yearlings and even a few across the channel which have been timed in and looked none the worse. I usually send the majority of them to the second or third race for the first race in their lives. I find they usually do better by missing the first race and getting a few more tosses under their belts and once thev'e had a race or two they settle down. They can at times surprise you. Some of them have been my best birds. My 6th Open Andrezel Hen started as a l bred. My first bird from Ancenis this year and last year started as a l bred as was my first pigeon from Arras this in fact she was ripped wide open. Also my first bird from Arras last year 25th Open 15 hrs 20 mins on wing was also a l bred. There have been others over the years but you can see from the above i'm a firm believer in showing some patience with these inexperienced birds. Its all about Patience I believe!

Forgot to say I loved to watch Starsky & Hutch which I thought was the best American cop Programme ive seen. Best Brittish cop Programme in my opinion would have to be The Sweeney. Seemed real to me with the Cockney lingo in it! Good punch ups in the Blaggs as well !

Deffo miss The Sweeney and without a doubt The Old Grey Whistle Test! Those were the Days!!!

Old Comrades (Doncaster) Show 22Nd/23Rd Nov.
Valiant Fifer replied to Valiant Fifer's topic in Notice Board
Reason I was asking Ladies & Gentlemen I was needing a favour from someone. I could do with some help in getting some pigeons up to Scotland from the Doncaster show on 22nd/23rd November. Simply to save on carrage. If someone could do this for me I can meet them somewhere convenient or collect them from their place after they return from the show! These pigeons are returning to Fife to me (Stuart Bowman) If someone can help me out please PM me when you can it would be much appreciated lads! Best Regards S.B.
