  1. Good amount too as racing is over and relaxed approach with them
  2. I feed once a day with moulting mix and I add vitamins in drinking water then they are fine
  3. Sparrowhawks are a protected species but not by the RSPB. It's a government protection Well there you go I cannot kill them but scare them I can
  4. Wow like that shiny globe where do you get them from and I like the crows too You'll lose a lot more than one Mathew it will be back for more now it's had a taste that's for sure.Get rid of it soon before ot gets more. Are sparrowhawk a protected species from RSPB?
  5. I’m a nature lover I would not do that I would just scare it or do something rather than kill, I accept it’s nature and circle of life plus we breed numbers so one loss while we have many in loft
  6. Good idea I hate them I seen it flying before with 2 crows harassing it but never expected it to kill my doo
  7. I’m staying out with them until they get inside, found out it’s my fault as I went inside when 2 of my Pigeons hanging about then when I opened my back door seen the hawk fly off and seen my dead bird on ground I might get owls too and put them on roof of loft
  8. So horrible to see sparrowhawk kill one of your Pigeon Is there ways to scare them off from your loft?
  9. Oh you get people like that, if your pigeons are looked after and not harming anyone and cleaned out then your neighbours are at loss. I’m lucky as I’m in the middle and my 2 neighbours are not bothered about my Pigeons
  10. No decided just keep them in and exercise some days as I got predators round our village
  11. Another thing is if it’s racing season I keep them in and training to fly home but winter or breeding I would use the open loft and feeding in morning and evening but they please themselves
  12. I might try that once I got paired up in January give them a happy life but I do have the odd cats that come in, or if there’s 2 lofts with seperate sex one loft get one day out and the other out the other day
  13. Hi I read somewhere about open loft what does that mean for Pigeons? And is it good or bad?

  23. Well done all and to my club mate Colin
  24. Well said
  25. I'm the same started with a few my best advice is as the racing season is finished, breed as many as you can with your existing birds but if you really want to race with your 12 is don't send all of them away, send half as one's that do come back are worth keeping as long they are up in like 3rd or 4th place, one's that gets lost no point worrying about them. When it comes to young birds for next season train a lot if you can with them, same again balance out how many away as if all goes to race you might get a bad race and lose them all.
