That’s how I do it with my Pigeons I prefer if the babies develop their immune system but not too much germs and cleaning is still important.

I put both cocks and hens together dec/jan time but I prefer Feb to March babies as that way training in April to June ready for racing to their own loft and they get good at flying. If my old birds lay early I just put fake dummy eggs until I’m ready also same when old bird racing season starts I put some fake eggs too, to get them motavated as I like to race both cock and hens but everyone have their own views and systems.

I hate sparrowhawk attacks I had last month same in garden 1 dead Pigeon, someone told me that Pigeon flying should be supervised until they are in the loft. I would also get a fake owl or something to sit on top of the loft. As for winter flying I don’t do that much as moulting and breeding on January but when it comes near racing season I then fly them often

Well if there’s no shu ring or etc just plastic ring then there’s no proof who the bird belongs to so their loss and my gain lol

I will post picture tomorrow if I can on this site but it’s just 2 plain red and blue ez ring but no registered ring like su or gb etc must have been an escaped stock bird, but if it was my birds I would put my su rings on no matter if it’s racing or not. If I was late in the ringing I would put stamp on wing or telephone ring

Hard to trace owner if no ring on her, she got pink and blue ez ring on her right leg, she is chequer hen and found sitting in my loft and I live at st combs Fraserburgh
