I only started keeping detailed records in 2000, till present.. just now i have results for 89 x 1st Feds. Joined lanarkshire in 1986 so thats 14 years unaccounted for... so to estimate on the low side G and W have topped the fed at least 3 per season in that time.. so your taking 130+ (Prob doing them are great injust from 1986 - 1999 at that) Funny to notice that the nearest member to that total looks like being in a diff section... Kinda blows their location theory right out the water.

The Losses And Returns Debate
Paul Mac 31 replied to andy Burgess's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
kelso 1 sent 30.. 29 home (Yearling cock) Kelso 2 sent 40.. 38 home (Yearling cock and Hen) otterburn sent 45.. 43 home ( 2 Late bred first timers) in the last 16 years its very rare for us not to lose a min of a bird per race. -
We have never kept 100 old birds, let alone sent 100 to a race. our average entry from 2000-2015 is 29 birds as for 500 mile races How many "Distance fanciers" in our area have 4 x 1st West Sections, 1st National, 3 x 1st open 450-514 miles. ? in the 70,s, 80's 90's 00's 10's Well Done Mark Gilbert , great achievement once again. its a sad day when people cant just say well done , without trying to take the shine off his performances. wether it be 10 or 100 the birds still need to be in better condition than the rest to win.. after all that's what its all about.

Numbers of course play a part. In every Fed wether it be 500 or 5000 birds, there are a % of fanciers as john says will be sending to get the birds are race under their belt..etc... however 99% of they fanciers will have pools on certain birds ..so they are still in it to win it.. unless they like giving away free money to club mates.. it all comes down to % george... good..bad fanciers... good bad birds... higher the birdage the harder to win.. thats goes with any sport.
-
Great post john couldnt agree more, i think members myself included take for granted how good of a Fed we have, i look up and down britain and all i see is Federations broken up into large clubs.. due to whatever reasons... we should be encouraging membership and amalgamations.. suppose a rule or two or a boundary needs to be changed ..so what its for the better and for the survival of our sport. The more the merrier.. Very proud to be a member of this Fed and it has played a large part in getting myself and my families results recongised around the UK and Europe. Great weekly competition with some real top doo men... still room to grow in my eyes as we can all pull together and make the Fed even better.. already chappn at the bit for the 2016 season..Atb lads.

What Can Be Done To Move The Sport Forward?
Paul Mac 31 replied to kingziemckay's topic in Notice Board
Im talking about guys in their 30s ian... i know plenty of guys that would get involved if their was good prize money in it.. look at golf darts snooker all guys in their 20's to 30's that are dominating it.. really competitive.. As i have said before plenty of fanciers will spend alot more on their drink and smoke but the birds that they keep 365 days a year are not worth a 5 pound pool.... maddness. -
What Can Be Done To Move The Sport Forward?
Paul Mac 31 replied to kingziemckay's topic in Notice Board
Most of the problems facing the sport is caused by the fancier themselves. 1. Hawk problem ( which could be dealt with if everyone came together and did X Y and Z) 2. Amalgamation of clubs ( which wont happen as their are far too many fanciers like to be the big fish in a smal pond) 3. Prize money and pools ( no young guy is gonna get involved with pigeons, 90% of guys my age that dont know a thing about pigeon racing will ask how much do u win... and when u tell them the answer they laugh and say whats the point in that... Sad but this is the reality.. prize money..has kickstarted snooker and darts which if you go back 15 - 20 years were on their *expletive removed*.. now you have young guys doninating it.. 4.Federation Combines ( big races, more birds, more prestige.) 5. Ran in a more professional manner ( after all it is a sport, from the libs to the presentation night, it should be done with a bit more class.. thats one thing i will say that the national does well... somewhere were you can take the wife and friends thus increasing numbers attending.. hats off to airdrie club they run agreat night. 7 or 8 trophys were not collected at the last lanarkshire Fed presentation, to which baffles me.. you dont win prize money all you have is the prestige of winning a Cup.. All the above can be put right... even the hawk problem..but they all involve fanciers coming together and agreeing which is the overall killer in the the pigeon game -
Hahaha just a nibble...what im really surprized at is people giving us free advertising Tam.... (smarter than your average bear mate) Atb for 2016 😃😃😉

If u actually read the post correctly .. the 30 x 1st Feds over 230 miles are since joining lanarkshire Fed.. As for the yearling open... please do ur homework danny .. we have won that more than any other fancier in lanarkshire..EVER As for money spent, yeh prob the same amount as most have spent on smoking or drinking in the same period ... atb lads .. crack on

Well if thats poor,, i will take it any day and twice on a sunday, No many better.

Results As requested.. From 2013 – 2015 we have entered approximately 14 Federation races from a distance of (Newark) 233 miles to (Ypres) 450 miles winning the following: 1st 2nd 31st Fed Ypres 671 birds 1st 2nd 3rd Fed NewarK 3923 birds 1st Fed Leicester 2622 birds 2nd Fed Warwick 3018 birds 2nd 32 Fed Uttoxeter 372 birds 4th 12th Fed Peterborough 841 birds 11th Fed Portsmouth 836 birds 12th Fed Upperhayford 1215 birds 14th 16th Fed Maidstone 839 birds 15th 18th 29th Fed Ypres 602 birds 24th Fed Newbury 1427 birds 3 X 1st Fed from 14 races entered, and no other member won more than One 1st Fed over the same 14 races. Please take into account the fact that we changed loft location mid-season in 2014 after braking all records in the Lanarkshire Federation in 2013 with 9 X 1st Feds and 26 trophies , topping the Fed along the way from 64 miles to Ypres 450 miles. At the end of 2013 we also retired our 6 best racers (all 1st Fed winners) to stock. We started at our new loft location 18months ago with a total of 36 empty nest boxes and won the Federation Young Bird Average in our first year in 2014 (the toughest young bird program the Federation has ever experienced). This year in 2015 we completed the full Federation program with a team of inexperienced Yearlings as all the Yearling hens had only 1 race as a young bird and most of the cocks with only 3 races, but still we managed to win the 1st 7 race average, the inland average up to 380 miles and the young bird average for the 9th time in the last 10 seasons. We have flown 28 Federation races to the new loft location and have managed to achieve Fed positions in 22 of them winning 4 X 1st Fed, 8 X 2nd Fed, 4 X 3rd Fed and 6 X 4th Fed (more than any other member in the Fed over the same 28 races). In 15 of these races we were not out of the first four in the Open. I know you only requested the last 3 seasons’ results from 250 miles and above but I would like to extend that information to give the viewing public a true reflection of our performances at 233 miles and above by quoting the following all achieved since 2003. 1st 44th Fed Newark 5318 birds 1st 2nd 28th 29th 40th Fed Huntingdon 2983 birds 2nd 3rd 4th 13th 23rd 27th 28th Fed Leicester 5154 birds 1st 2nd 6th 12th 15th 25th Fed Leicester 2183 birds 1st 11th Fed Huntingdon 3412 birds 1st 7th 24th Fed Uttoxeter 7416 birds 1st 23rd 25th Fed Huntingdon 2518 birds 1stStrathclyde Amal Huntingdon 7000 + birds 1st 8th 21st 27th Open Leicester 3696 birds 2nd 6th 9th Fed Huntingdon 2180 birds 1st 2nd Fed Huntingdon 1425 birds 2nd 3rd 37th Fed Maidstone 1238 birds 1st Fed Falaise 722 birds 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th Fed Newark 5198 birds 2nd 3rd 9th 16th Fed Leicester 1619 birds 3rd 4th 16th Fed Leicester 2245 birds 1st 2nd 3rd Fed Worcester 3352 birds 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th Fed Newark 5902 birds 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 13th 17th Fed Leicester 3536 birds 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 12th 14th Open Leicester 1922 birds 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 12th 19th Fed Newark 4082 birds 2nd 11th 16th 23rd Fed Wollaston 862 birds 3rd 9th 21st Fed Salsbury 682 birds 1st 2nd 3rd Fed Newark 3923 birds 1st Fed Leicester 2622 birds 1st 2nd 3st Fed Ypres 671 birds 2nd 32nd Fed Uttoxeter 367 birds Quoting only our positions in the 1st three We have won: 17 X 1st Feds 18 X 2nd Feds 11 X 3rd Feds The Federation is so competitive that we know of no other member in the Federation that has won 12 X 1st Fed in their lives at any distance, yet we have won 17 X 1st at over 233 miles and every distance through to 514 miles, and still in some peoples’ eyes we are perceived to be out and out sprinters. Since joining the Fed in 1985 we have won over 110 X 1st Feds or Open duplication races and finished Fed champions 14 times, that is 11 times more than the only member to win this title on 3 occasions, another outstanding fancier and friend Andy Eadie. We would also take this opportunity to put a few other ghosts to bed 1 It has been said in the past that we purchased “Janefield†to try and dominate the Lanarkshire Fed from this post code. Not true!! We raced at the same post code for 7 seasons in the Midland Federation prior to the Coatbridge Club voting to join the Lanarkshire Fed and we actually objected to this move at Club level. 2 We are currently surrounded by full clubs within our own section of the Fed and we are the most westerly loft in the very competitive Airdrie Club, but this did not stop us winning 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th in our first ever race in the new club and 1st 2nd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th and 12th club in the last race flown in 2015. 3. Over 35 times we have been more than 20ypm ahead of the next member in the Federation, so where are all the birds belonging to fanciers on our door step on these days. 4. We started this season with 36 cocks and 40 hens and on any given season our average for the year will be no more than 27/28 birds per race. 5. We have topped the Federation in every wind condition and at all velocities with distances ranging from 64 miles to 514 miles. 6. Our birds in the last few seasons have won Feds, Combines, Amals and National races for fanciers all over the UK (we will on a future date compile a comprehensive list of fanciers and some outstanding performances achieved with our blood lines). It is well documented that in 1997 we walked away from National racing for a period of 11 years and even to this day we have no real interest in racing at this level with the exception of The Federation Duplication Races. It’s also no secret that we set out to develop the best team of one day racers that could compete to a high level of consistency in the Lanarkshire Federation, but it seems that achieving our goal is still not good enough for some people. We are extremely proud of our record at all distances in the sport including our achievements at the distance eg 4 times 1st Open from across the channel when timing the 1st bird from the total convoy 4 times 1st West section in S.N.F.C. at 380 miles, 450 miles, 508 miles and 610 miles 2 times S.N.F.C. Gold Awards with “Janefield Geordie†and “Janefield Paul†2 times S.H.U. National Ace 300 mile birds with “Supermac II†and “The Blue Slash Cock†1st Open Strathclyde Amalgamation at 275 miles with “The Amal Cock†Over 30 times 1st Federation at distances greater than 230 miles Over 110 times 1st Federation at all distances. Hopefully this will be enough information for people to make their own judgements on our racing history to date as our record is our record, we can’t make it any better and it is what it is, but I bet you there are a few distance minded people out there who would love to be sprinters like us. There are many outstanding fanciers in the Lanarkshire Federation that keep us on our toes on a weekly basis and approximately 65% of these fanciers are not members of the S.N.F.C. but are top competitors in one of the best Federations in the UK.

Not a problem when i get home i will post them up also. Off the Top of my Head 2013 1st 2nd Fed... west sec Ypres 450 miles then of course if you knew the ins and outs of it before asking the ? .. After the record breaking season in lanarkshire Fed in 2013 we stop 6 top Racers for the breeding loft i.e super 31.. black cavair.joint venture.. cleo 005... all fed toppers up to 450. We then for raced the old bird team out at the grandfathers.. while building the new loft for 2014 ybs.. so as a "Distance specialist" as yourself.. you will know that its takes some time to build ur team back up.. however in this period of time the year and a half u are talking about im pretty.sure only racing yearlings and ybs we have won more 1,2,3 federations than any other fancier in lanarkshire.... not a bad start to a new generation would u not say? I will post they results up later 😊

Listen the post wasnt about getting a slap on the back, or an ego trip, we know what we are all about, i just put that up as FACTS and let people decide, and if others have opinions about a better alround record thats fine,, gladly shake their hand, but what i wont here is location,,and other excuses,, when for 30 years we have had full clubs N S E W of us.. and thats at every distance.. also if it was just down to us,, system, loft etc how do you explain 3 x 1st lanarkshire Feds 2015 outside our loft 1st Fife Fed 1st North west Fed 1st Almond Valley Fed 1st MNFC 1st Durham combine guts of £5000 won in breeder buyers down south plus over 60 lanarkshire Fed prizes by others plus a host of club winners , scotland, england, wales Derby Race winner in the USA all in 2015. all with our bloodlines the Doos deserve the credit , not all us.
