That is a very good idea, for birds and fanciers alike, hopefully lanarkshire will do the same, and let the weather improve to a descent tempreture to get there birds fit to race,its still far to cold ,the end of the month would be more beneficial for all.

good morning its time to get rid of the snow

my neighbours are feeding wild birds mainly wood pigeons, and jackdaws ,crows, etc anyway its now a feast table for sparrowhawk, ive tried to explain to them that there not helping the wild birds except for( one) preditor, the end result is, one half eaten wood pigeon , and mines are jumpy as anything when out, this has only happened since they started there kindness as they put it, to the wild birds over winter.

could anyone recommend a nice sauce to go on the back of a pigeon that alas succumbed to a local sparrowhawk attack as im sure it will return for seconds

a very interesting read ,although i always thought to many people specialize in breeding all these champion birds,i believe its a big factor for as many birds being lost or unable to home on there own. i watch all the sales, and a great number of birds from these breeding lofts are bought with the big pedigree,then the offspring dont come up to scratch,but rather than do away with them, they create a rosy picture and recoup there money back of the poor fancier trying to make his saturday a better day. there is far to many birds being sent to races not fit for purpose hence a factor in as many losses in my opinion.
