  13. thats one of the reasons i carry a big team of stock birds if you get wiped out with your youngbird team which is happening more and more in training or racing you can repair the stock birds and breed another young bird team and just train them the rest of the year other wise it sets you back 2 or 3 years with no young birds yearlings or two year olds coming through its happend to me a few times in races no more but
  14. ive 16 rung off the stock pairs 2 pair still to lay and few still on eggs so going well so far for me the mild weather is a big factor was a pair of young streeters on my loft the week before christmas and the wood pigeons round my loft have paired up and sitting in the nest in the big fir tree next door dont know if there on eggs yet but only had to use the heating i put in about 4 times since 1st week in december which will help the lecky bill lol

was just thinking the very same thing m8 it was dog tooth maize full of flour and the birds raced great on it almost everyone in my club was using it great stuff as long as its dry maize is maize grain being nice a shinny looks good but it does not make it better its still maize imo
  17. when i moved to this address 11 years ago i was working in the loft at 10 oclock at night in december with the lights on pitch black out side the door of the loft had been left open and 30 birds flew out into the darkness i could hear them going round the loft flying faster and faster as they began to panic i could see them going away over the top of the factories behind my loft then back again they started to land at 12 30 with the last ones landing at 2 30 in the morning total darkness i could not believe it but i know people have trained pigeons to fly and home in total darkness by letting them out later and later then training them with short tosses in the dark amazing wee things our doos
