  4. wee bit before my time but dont think it could come back as all the railway lines are covered in wires now think it was steam trains in those days not many wires around how times change and not allways for the better eh
  5. shame on them the rats
  6. after a night togethere i give them a day with the hens locked in the box to get the cocks used to flying up and into there box next day the boxes are opened and let them get on with it dont think theres an easy way yellow some years better than others ive tried to pair one of my best racing hens to one of my best stock cocks for three years and the hen just does not like him and i end up pairing her to another cock not even going to try with her this year as she has taken a shine to my ypres winner and hes a grandson of my vale barcelona stock cock and she is a daughter off the vale cock so a good pairing heres hopeing ah the joys lol il settle for one pat lol

  10. What would you have done different now you know what you know for me it would have been less time in bed and pubs and more time on the road training my pigeons and wished I learned about barley back then what about you guys
  11. looks like a vander wegan like the de barcelona birds i have but need to handle it tiger nice looking bird what ever it is m8
  12. think it would depend what distance i want to succeed at and what system i want to fly before i choose who and where to buy from to then follow the mans advice on pairing or buy from two good flyers and try the cross

  16. yes you can dwh we all have our opinions pal lol
  17. an outstanding runner rip
  18. not at you john was trying to say they dont all win because they have a strong back all shapes and sizes win races and the only way to find winners is race them maybe i could have put it better m8 but thats what i mean
  19. nice thing to have jim
  20. john i didnot disagree with the guys talking about strong backs and good wing condition m8 im saying when your learning the game let the basket be the judge dont know why some has a problem with that m8 and i dont know a better way
  21. if they dont win a prize in club fed or national by 3 years old i dispose of them m8 good back or not unless there breeding winners all im saying is it is not always fact that a nice pigeon is a good pigeon only the basket can tell us that if anyone else can come on and tell the novices how to pick there birds without putting them in the basket please do so cause thats the only way i know instead of guys who have had doos for years sitting back and spliting hairs with someone trying to help them get on here and tell us all how to do it guys
  22. if it breeds winners yes and it does not always follow that if the parents are not specimans the the youngbirds will not be of course we all want the breeders and racers to look the part im just saying all types win and all types can and do breed winners and only the basket tells me that you must race them hard to find them out first then if you want to be selective do so but you have to use the basket to find them out anyone else who can tell us if a birds a champion without racing it please come on and tell us how to do it because thats the only way i know how and thats what im passing on to the novice if anyone knows some secret that can pick them out im sure all of us would like to know not just the novice think we are losing the point here how else would you tell a new start how to find his best birds whithout putting them in a basket for crying out loud
  23. i do that john if there not good racers or good breeders no matter what they look like they go down or i put them down and the basket tells me that sorry im not expert enough to say a bird with a good back must be a good bird if that was the case all the pigeons that get tickets in shows should be champion racers dont think so john anyone who can pick out champion pigeons wthout them being in a basket is very lucky i cant m8 and i would be glad to listen to anyone that can do it always willing to learn john
  24. was there last year del been to a few but not as many as id like m8
