  1. Peter, I'm not trying to be negative but I don't see a 400 mile race point in that plan. I appreciate we live at different sides of the country but Buckingham is 300 miles to me while Roye is 520 according to the measurements I have from the SHU this week. Perhaps some food for thought. I hope your absent pigeons return. It happens to us all at some time.
  2. R.I.P. Ant
  3. It's unlikely that they will improve. The common cause is lack of nesting material but not always.
  4. Frightened close to the loft by a hawk of some description. It takes them a good few weeks to normalise.
  5. Sometimes I struggle with English interpretation but I thought this thread was actually about the SNFC reminding members that they must comply with SHU legislation and my take on this was that the ETS installation may be checked. It seems to me that they could be forewarning members that this could happen!
  6. You'll never manage the 6 courser! Enjoy the break both of you.
  7. That was good management cutting down the overheads.
  8. Eamon, I bred these years ago. There were some good ones in Elderslie and also in Kilmarnock. I doubt if these exist now. There was a Scottish Tumbler club. Try contacting the NPA and I am sure they will help you if they can.

    Gazza

Despite the adverse publicity he has received I know from local experience that he is a really nice guy. He was born with a real talent and little willpower.
  10. I think you need to waken up and smell the coffee. Absolutely correct. Spot on. The selling disease represents much of what is wrong with and what is killing the "sport".

That's what the sport has come to and you must be gutted losing a performance pigeon Unlike many others I am sure you will have a few of equal potential in the pipeline.
  12. Use whatever suits your available time.
  13. Let's just start with 12 times federation champion without even talking about National positions and take it from there. Is that enough effort for you? My results are available for anyone to see and it would give me great pleasure to discuss them with you on a personal basis. Would you like a list of the organisations I have supported recently and the fanciers I have helped recently with GIFT pigeons including the fancier who received 14 latebreds last year from my best to help him return to the sport following life threatening illness. I still await the details of your boundless generosity and will make no further comment till I receive these. Why should I assist you to break the site rules selling for others by bumping your thread to the top. This post merits nothing but contempt. Do you understand what that is?
  14. Only a politician is allowed to answer a question with another question. Let's just say I am someone who has the future of the fancy at heart because of what it has given to me in the past.
  15. That's the trick Derek you just need to be dishonest!
  16. 1 can you quote examples of your generosity please? 2 Are your sons registered sellers?
  17. RIP Sean and all those family members who perished.
  18. When a pigeon hits the landing board and brings a tear to your eye - that's a champion.
  19. None
  20. They have differently shapes wings. Peregrines are more pointed and the bird is almost black. When it's low you can see the distinct chest markings and when very close it will have brown cheeks
  21. They are exactly what is required. Loads of good breeding and plenty of hybrid vigour. I have studied the breeding of many winners of some of the more famous lofts on the continent and many are crosses.
  22. We do all need a little hobby and mine may be to spend years getting even.
  23. The time you have. Hosea to train is very important. There are peak times when casualties will be high. Unfortunately that's when we choose to race youngsters.
  24. I estimate that peregrine numbers will increase by at least 30% every year while the food supply is plentiful. They will continue to prosper while we continue to feed them good uncontaminated pigeon. I think we all need to think about how we pursue our hobby. If I ever stop racing Iinwill always continue to breed a few even though they may be unrung.
  25. I vaccinated yesterday and, although I knew I had some missing, i was unsure which ones they were. I now know they were latebreds which may not have had the opportunity to become street wise.
