not sure i agree with you george,the season is short enough with only 20 races in total so if we only have 7 yb races it is down to only 18. As i see it yb racing is for education with the main thing being returns and the more experience that can be gained the better, it is usually the same guys who have their birds ready in time each year so we would be penalising them to favour those who are not. Seven races only could be awkward if the weather was poor in the first two or three, while the east section birdage can be affected when there is due to be east in the wind the west side birdage can be reduced when there are strong westerlies forecast, some fanciers enjoy putting their youngsters on darkness and a reduced programme might make it less worth trying, an average of 12/1300 for each of the first two races still has us providing racing at no extra cost to the fed and may mean that people have more confidence in putting there doos to the longer races. While i am not too keen on this programme i am still happy to have 9 races but i would not have a last short race as every time we have done it the birdage is abysmal and ther race is a non event and loses money.
