Basketing is going ahead on saturday at normal time, 22 birds per crate, first message will be 9am on sunday although there is a good chance that they wont get up till around noon, if necessary i will get them taken back to thornton if the weather south of the forth is slow to clear
Cheers guys any day you win the fed yearling race is a good one, winning bird is bred off my preece bros stock but the outstanding bird on the result is without doubt the one flying way out west in deepest darkest forres
APPROX 530 NOS BIRDS AND 160 ABDN BIRDS WERE LIBBED AT WORKSOP AT 10AM BROKEN CLOUDS WITH BLUE SKY, BIRDS CLEARED HIGH AND NORTH STRAIGHT AWAY INTO A VERY LIGHT NE WIND, ATB TO ALL COMPETING IN BOTH FEDS
WITH EARLY MORNING FOG AND ALMOST 100% CLOUD COVER FORECAST AT RACE POINT UNTIL AT LEAST 10AM ON SATURDAY I HAVE DECIDED TO DELAY BASKETING FOR 24 HRS, FORECAST FOR THE SUNDAY IS FAR BETTER SO BOTH FEDS PLEASE ADHERE TO 22 BIRDS PER CRATE AND FIRST MESSAGE WILL BE ON SUNDAY AT 07.30
Forecast at the race point for Saturday is not great with full cloud cover and not great visibility so at present I am leaning towards a 24 hour delay in basketing !! Forecast for Sunday morning looks far better so I will keep an eye on forecast over the next 24 hrs and will confirm my decision on here at 4pm tomorrow
Undoubtedly lots caused by hawks directly or cos of fleeing attack, but years ago when pigeons came home damaged we blamed wires or other obstacles but nowadays all injuries in some lofts are classed as hawked !! have pigeons now stopped hitting things by accident?
I have 3 back this week hurt as well Robbie , I would say all 3 have flown into wires etc, I dont believe that most injuries are raptor related, imo more down to the north and east winds, more north east forecast for the weekend
