Thanks fellows, I will pass on the good tidings to Jim tomorrow Im sure he will be happy his hard work is appreciated further afield.
-
Huge credit must go to Jim Savage , a very pro-active and forward-thinking federation secretary. The Ayrshire federation has had nothing but good news this year imo, and long may it continue with the hard-working and progressive outlook of the committee and it's members. Barry

Good day all, just to let you all know that Ayrshire Federation's hard working committee have put together a fantastic auction of later bred youngsters for Federation progression funds and our charity donations and they will be sold on Sun 11th September at Crookedholme Community Centre, near Kilmarnock (postcode KA3 6LD) - viewing will be 11am and the sale will commence approx 12 midday. There will be over 60 lots available on the day! Why not fill a motor and take a drive over to Ayrshire, there will be plenty for everyone and food and refreshments at the cash bar. An example of the top UK fanciers donating are: Ian Cameron of Broadholme, Darren Peters of East Heckington, Margaret & Terry McGeechan of S*expletive removed*horpe, Nigel Laycock of Womersley, Paul Woolliss of Grimsby, Tony Blendell of Cleethorpes, Albert Cousins & Son of Ballylesson, Imran Malik & Partners of Tolworth, Formula1Lofts of Leigh-on-Sea, G S Daykin of Nottingham , E Hodgson & Son of Annan, Mr & Mrs Chris Little of Eastriggs, Frank Bristow of Horbling and many top lofts in the Ayrshire region including Tom Smith of Dalry, Harvey Pollock of Irvine, J J & C Nicol of Stevenston, J R Mills of Hurlford, Derek McCullen of Kilmaurs, Robert "speedy" Reid of Beith etc Telephone bids and online bids will be welcomed from now until midnight Sat 10th September for the lots which can be viewed on the Ayrshire fed web page. The last online bid will be carried forward to the saleroom. Telephone bids will be accepted from registered bidders during the sale. For more info please PM me or call me on 07980079973 The birds will be available on the completion of the sale except where stated on lots. Buyer to arrange carriage where required. Huge thanks to all donators and the committee for their hard work! all the best for the YB season, Baz Nicol

Whats distance to you fellas??

Whilst the thought behind the post is commendable - every year we breed 8-10 latbred s which are left to come away "on their own" they eat, sleep, feed, excercise with the OB (and then the old cocks after separation) right through unless they become amorous hens. These have produced some hard to lose birds, esp the hens...

Should be utter chaos then, with Ayrshire and other west feds going down the East route to Arniston, Berwick and the like..... clashing, crossing over each other - best sort out the transporters meeting to swap strags on a friday night somewhere in the middle ?? Baz

Lovely pigeon Lee. I handled John's pigeon yesterday 2 hours after he homed he was roaring around his box and handled superb. This after 695 miles - absolute class.

tbh we are a bit of a laughing stock, the MNFC, the NFC and even the Internationals have a provisional result within 48 hours. We dont rival these for birdage yet it takes a week most times

to be fair, i dont agree at all , what about the NIPA St Malo result and the SNFC Messac result...... dominated by yearlings? Hardly. Have never ever seen a distance result dominated by yearlings. Your post is simple guesswork. Yearlings are the only ones daft enough to fly when there are hawks about? All birds fly naturally , predators wont stop them - and i think the older the wiser in fact..

Let's all jump up and down when i say this softly: Irish route, prevailing following wind = better returns, faster races. Only problem is south west fanciers would fly no further than around 350 miles?? I am absolutely convinced if we flew from there we would have vastly better racing. Maybe we have to take a huge look at the future of racing at "distance" as the attrition rate in recent years is vast. takes a team of 60 Obs to get through a season these days if you want to compete for the whole programme, you are lucky to finsih with 25 of these...
