  4. Depends what your time and pocket can cope with - don't ruin your life educating youngsters if you want to have them racing as OB next year then they won't need hammering out to the longest YB races If you're only wanting them for youngsters racing then work them as hard as you dare but put the fuel in them to do so

    Dismayed

If you seen that Dunc you should have had the fancier remove them from the basket there and then
  6. How was returns? Out of 502 with WSCC at Annan only 4 beat 400ypm. Seems tough all over almost

    Dismayed

Definitely the route. Ayrshire fed's worst returns were about 60% - top side of the fed 90%. WSCC got slaughtered. Fanciers who sent to both will tell you the difference lads. One 3/24 WSCC vs 28/29 Ayrshire. The Cumbrian boys are about done. There won't be any racing there in 5 years time. Stay out of the border valleys - it's bad enough getting a run at them but liberating there ? I heard there was real teeming rain too which didn't help - I am very surprised they went up at 0630hrs
  8. Surely the SNFC haven't updated - must be other birds since 10am? Well done to the winner - a tough pigeon that and any others that have made it
  9. Thats what Scotland's total send was - I think you'll fine the SNRPC has had many sends under 200 - it shows you how tough it is to get a team of birds out to 600 miles - most lofts would have only one or two birds capable of flying it never mind racing it. If that's not the case then there'd be more. Bear in mind returns from the SNFC have been poor in the main too
  10. 2 from Sect F
  11. A real champion well done man and bird
  12. Did it not make the result or is John not a member of the SNFC?
  13. Eamon Kelly has apologised saying he was "tempted and he fell" what a load of bollocks, he was caught more like. Lowest of the low in my opinion, cheating your fellow fanciers out of a lifetime's ambition. Bear in mind he has won it twice before!!!
  14. Congratulations to Andy who clocked 26 birds in 20 seconds from 70 mile to obliterate the rest of the fed on Saturday. That's never been done before - the only loft on the fed result. Baz
  15. good stuff!

    Reims Snfc

Great performances put up in terrible conditions - well done the Morris's too
  17. Scotland isnae big enough and doesn't have enough doos to go as separate entities here there and everywhere - time the people that are for th future of the sport were listened to, we complain about lack of fresh blood yet fresh ideas are shot down at every turn. Pride needs swallowing before there's naebody left to race against Lanarkshire would be a HUGE FORCE in SNFC racing if it competed in as part of the programme in fact it would make a big difference to the west and central parts of the country too
  18. Depends when they're up if tomorrow 1042ypm if Saturday 1162ypm

    National

Banging on about 20-30 years ago is pointless the racing today doesn't even resemble the racing of back then. In Ayrshire you get on average 70% maximum returns most weeks so thats nearly a third of your team gone at almost every race (some will be better most will be around ther or worse). If you started the season in Ayrshire and went to every fed race (longest one around 450 miles) you wouldn't finish the OB season with more than ten - that's a fact. We are feeding BOP and the RSPB is happy about it The weather is beatable - death isn't - we fight on and the birds that keep coming are the birds that will produce further generations, will they evolve fast enough to develop skill to avoid predators ? I'm not sure that's possible.
  21. Drove Ayrshire to York today from moment I hit A74 off Glespin it was torrential all way to Middlesboro
  22. Found by Richard Padgett on pigeon chat (hit by hawk but will be ok)
  23. If nothing else Derek it gives National racing to lofts that wouldn't normally have a chance of winning a national. Alot of people especially nowadays don't or can't find the time to prepare and then physically wait for channel doos and on a hard race can be fully two days out of your time. I massively prefer the channel to any other type of racing but for busy people having to work weekends and having many other interests, family time etc the modern world isn't helping the channel send either Like you say the theory above hasn't seemed to help the likes of the GC birdage, that I think was the idea as you say and I would still think that being able to duplicate fed birds into inland Nats helps feds (it does ours we had only 410 doos at Buckingham) balance the books Each to their own, mind. Our senior partner dictates where we send and a channel race is a rarity for us sadly - best of luck this week and for the upcoming "big yins"!! Baz
  24. Properly disagree Nationals should be over the water only - every major pigeon racing country in the world has short and middle distance nationals for me you can have a national regardless almost of distance - why no have it with shortest lofts doing 200 mile? In the end we are a declining membership and in the current climate with returns especially to the west side of the country if nationals were only over the water you'd be lucky to scrape a decent sized fed birdage at some of them The inland nationals were a step forward in Scottish racing - that's just my opinion I think it helps the future of the sport. I think there is as much kudos beating 4-5000 doos at 300 mile than 1800 at 450 There will always be a thrill at the proper "distance" especially the blue riband and channel - the future is including more folk to encourage national racing and the inland races help that
  25. how many you got goin Ricky?
