  1. hope you are having a day off Mick! Have a good one!
  2. Think Hall Bros were also racing them at Beaconsfield before they moved.
  3. the idea of stray centres should be for federation transporters traveling up and down the country to collect and transport birds back to there area!
  4. To do the power moult pulling flights is part of it or you won't achieve your aim! The birds will fly when moulting the last 3 flights but not well as they will be sore and it will be painful to them to fly for long.
  5. All very good in theory but the stray centre will end up with a loft full of birds people don't want, also if 6 fanciers book collections you'll prob get 5 different couriers turn up for 1 bird each etc.
  6. Well done Ray for your efforts, hope it works out. The RPRA have a MDU which could be towed to the event etc.
  7. 5p per bird isn't a lot for somebody to take care of your bird. most fed transporters have a driver and convoyer both of which will need paying, also if trailer the unit pulling the trailer may be hired on a daily rate!

  10. I lived very close to major hospital and ambulance control centre which also house a mobile phone mast and cant say it had any effect on the birds.
  11. look in the RPRA rules under ungentlemanly conduct and follow procedure.
  12. foreign to there union, we have the same in the WHPU, all GB rings are registered with them as foreign rings, if a WHPU fed or national etc is won by a GB ring etc and it is not registered the member and bird will be thrown out!
  13. probably but you'll need 6 updates before they'll work ! lol ;D
  14. lol
  15. I hope somebody buys you a spirit level for Christmas ;D ;D ;D
  16. find out what the majority in your club use! If a lot still use STB's etc then get similar as they will know how to set them, turn up with a t3 and some clubs will never have set 1 or have a printer.

Paying for crates is a good idea if you send enough to fill it! Many feds won't have the capacity to carry crates with 10 birds in it. If it was permitted and you filled a crate you should also be permitted to clean/dissinfect the crate prior to use if required.

not all birds bring up food in the basket! It depends how much they have in them etc

As normal this should be done as you say but in reality how many do! Many don't even bother to change the paper or shavings but are quick to blame others if they get a problem!
  21. send the NWHU transfer to them and then register the bird with the RPRA as a foreign ring

The only reasons birds should be turned away are No wing stamp/or telephone ring and clearly displaying illnes, i.e one eye cold etc etc. Easiest way to prevent transmission via any food is to fit grilles to the race baskets/crates so any food brought up will not be accesible by others!
  23. Breed from them first, they will then have some bond to the loft and if they do go you will have there offspring for the furure. Make sure they can see out, idealy build them a flight or aviary, even if only tempary until the birds are settled. If you have had the birds from somebody localy to you tell them when you are about to let them out so they can make sure there loft is closed up and the birds can't get in.
  24. Cut it and pull it as has been sugested but wait until the rest of the mouly has finished. If you cut and pull while still moulting you could cause the bird stress which would result in another fret! The only problem that you could also get is that the bird could go into a second wing moult from the pulled flights.
  25. nice pic, looks like the bird is his pride and joy!
