-
could be something in what you say carter, who knows?
-
kids can be encouraged, even if they are not able to keep them now, the seed can be sown . in my experience, once they are taught to handle a pigeon, they seem to want them after that
-
:) best tip i can give you is,, remember the 3 c,s contentment. condition. and control, if you can get these things linked together, you wont go far wrong, stick in young westy, youll go far :)

my old club used to race about 5 to 600 birds per week, it used to be that the first 8 got a prize, and points, 8 for first ,then down to 1 for eight then there was a points trophy

i woud say take hyacinths tip, you may get a lot of valuable information

bruno i wont mention" milton" :) i can see your point, as the last few days have been particularly freezing, but thankfully its not allways like that, im sure the birds know its going to freeze, and take more water ,in a oner ,than normal, so its just as easy changing it as normal, each day, ive never seen them any the worse off for it :)
-
i think we all go over the score in adding, too much to the water i think some birds must wonder what "real" water is nowadays :)
-
experienced both, but would prefer, back garden, mind you allways had good company and laughs where i had them, in the "yard," but travelling back and forth in winter was no fun
-
:) :)according to the poll, its obvious that if youve kept pigons as a boy or girl , theres more chance of you keeping them later in life. but on reflection, , i think we must attract all ages, even the" golden oldies" my motto has allways been, if each fancier, spent time in getting one of their freinds interested ,membership would double [easier said than done, but would say ive managed it on a few occasions] only thing is , theve never forgiven me for it, :) :)

i have the same ,ankylosing spondulitisits[ no joke,],tried cider vinegar, never helped, but now trying, glucosamine sulphate, thats how i cant sleep now, very painfull,i have every sympathy for you mate. as far as the birds go, cider vinegar is good . but i think we can all get carried away ,with too, many additives in the water.p.s hope your keeping better than me, at least we an help one another, as its quite a relatively rare desease, some forum members have been a great help to me, cheers mate, if i can be of any help, just p.m. me

i i wonder if" rspb hip huc ewan" has read section 27 of the wild life and countryside act,,,WHAT CONSTITUTES A BRITTISH BIRD,,,,,, sec ,27 wildlife and countryside act 1981,, [ANY BIRD OF A KIND WHICH IS ORDINARY RESIDENT IN OR IS A VISITOR TO GREAT BRITTAIN] ,,,,,,,SO MR EWAN [ HIS SUNDAY NAME] MUST BE BLATENTLY WRONG IN SAYING, ON THAT EAGLE OWL PROGRAMME "THAT THEY ARE FOREIGN AND DONT BELONG HERE" THAT 1981 ACT CLEARLY CONTRADICTS HIM THE 23 YOUNG BIRDS WERE BORN HERE,IN THE WILD, AND RUNG ,TO PROOVE IT. P.S I JUST LOVE HIP HUC EWAN,,,,, BOTH HIS FACES. ;)
-
much the same as you s,w, funny how you remember your first birds, great to see you racing descendants of that bird to this day, great stuff

yes if any club was dissolved ,all assets would be equally shared by the members, but on the other side of the coin,... all dept, would have to be equally paid back by all the members.also.

yes speight hormoform is very good, but it is fairly expensive, as i said before a good diet of peas and beans, some babies milk powder in their water,[ or the other way mentioned in an earlier post] plenty grit and minerals, and you should have nice plump healthy ybs, one thing i do beleive in though, is that they must get a good start in life, otherwise their never any good
-
because i beleive, there are far to many politicly based arguements, that are putting fanciers off, instead of pulling together, and enjoying their racing,
