do winning young birds make winning old birds
jimmy white replied to jimmy white's topic in Racing Pigeons
i would prefer to stop the young cocks providing theve been well trained and a few races, ive noticed that bigger cumbersome young cocks take longer to fill out and mature, i beleive a great many good birds can go down as ybs. certainly ive found that winning ybs dont allways make winning obs, but i do like to see them comming steady -
no answer to my last email, maybe getting a wee bit close to the bone. "maybe you can enligten me as to what danger they pose to other" birds" or environement" all i wanted to know ,was, what danger they pose. surely a fair enough question, but still no answer???

i could see where you were slightly confused bruno, i didnt have it prescribed by a doctor, i was told about it,bought it out the chemist and asked the doc, if it would be ok to take it, along with the medication i am on.he said it would be no problem. i really cant see any benefit giving this to a young fit pigeon, but it might help an older favourite pigeon, that has become a bit arthritic,[ i really dont know], but it definately helps some people with arthritic conditions.

the only rule in the shu rule book that can cover that, is rule 5 of the race rules. "the committee appointed shall meet after each race is flown at a place and time appointed to satisfy themselves that everything is in order"

hi pcked hen, your right in saying the pair of fantails should lay about the same time as the logans, to foster them, youll get away with it if theres up to about 4 days differance.but if the 2 fantails are hens, they wont sit unless theve laid themselves, and its just two eggs per pair, hope this helps :) p.s i only rolled my eyes heavenwards, when i saw your photo :) good luck -

are they off, what time
-
yes, strange one that, theyll probably sit about 3 days days over due, then they know their not going to hatch[.im talking about old birds] but if you basket them whilst their sitting 4 days, then let them, sit again, then repeat this after a few days this seems to add on 8 days to their sitting time , so can they count the sitting days?, or is it a sitting cycle, that only effects them whilst sitting,? dont know if ive explained myself very well,. any veiws.

:) many happy returns to both rose and speight, have a great day :)

i dont think its too early for you, as you are not racing old birds, and this is your first season, and you need a team of ybs, i wouldnt normally advice this, if you were racing obs, but you would have some ybs on natural darkness, that will have a body moult and hold there flights, you will then have some natural ybs later, you could race the early ones right out, then maybe keep some of the later ones, after training and a few races, as you have to think of next year, the losses in the last few years have been quite big, so the old saying goes, dont put all your eggs in the one basket

the snfc blue riband race was won last year with a pigeon exactly treated like that, it has aso been 2nd national, and other prominent positions, so it certainly worked for that pigeon [and that fancier]

im taking it myself now, been taking it for about couple of months, i think it has helped me slightly, more movement in my neck, but i dont know about giving it to pigeons,,, thats joint flex, glucosamine liquid
