  3. the old meally i descibed was down from hammond and whiticker,,grooter lines, and at the time did notice they produced some unusual colours , silvers etc.one of the queerest i bred was a blue cheq, with one red cheq wing, and this bird flew well
  4. i used to pair darkness ybs feb, put them on darkness till the longest day, that way i could catch them for yb nat. what you said about birds casting flights, i found you do get the odd one doing this for no apparent reason

    tips

my advice westy would be to concentrate on breeding a decent team of ybs, then race them, any latebreds this year could be trained with them, and race the following year, the main thing is enjoy them, which im sure you will jimmy
  6. if your really nice to us, i think we could just allow you ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  7. pecked hen , thats not stupid, dont be so hard on yourself, who knows that bird may just return to you ,who knows, i hope you get it back one way or the other, good luck anyway [by the way weve all done that]
  8. my brother , david has had the same news concerning his canaries
  9. "is that where the boil is,, now this wont hurt,,honestly
  10. "tell your dad i like the new loft"
  11. just browzing through the posts of grizzles, and managed to get myself lost a bit ,but ill go through it more times, all i know , theres dominent and recesive, and a wee bit more. but what i was pondering about was that i had an old meally [but an unusual dirty colour, for a meally] paired with a cheq hen ,this pair produced quite a few chocolates, before the ybs first moult they were pure chocolate coloured, then after their moult, were white splashed, each year they moulted they became whiter, these birds never done much but did breed decent birds, the g sire dirty meally was a good one, has anyone had this experience?
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARRY
  13. ;D ;D ;D speckled is in a class of her own ;D ;D ;D
  14. :)great to read something light hearted like that, what a lovely photo of samantha, and off course the pigeons , what a nice topic, well done westy. p.s great photo of the truck driver :)
  15. i think this will effect a lot of bird keepers, and as you say fifer will hurt the sport a lot, among others as well, then theres the big pet shops, like pet city etc. he does say "sales involving collection of birds" theres aviaries now in these shops, that contain ,more than a collection of birds, so they, for one [big concerns] will want this ban lifted.
  16. it can allways be said that it would be the safest show on earth im sure some of the young lads would like to see their pigeons "on screen"and would give them encouragement, no matter who wins
  17. would it not be better posponing these shows b4 31 dec , then wait and see what happens, ive just sent the e,mail to my brother ,david.hes right in the height of his canary show season, and off course hes devastated, i cant help agreeing with showman , ,,just the tip of the iceberg,,but then again who knows
  18. yes showman , wonder if we can get some thing organied,[,near enough have really], just bought a cheap camera so if any local members want to enter, ill photo them if you want,, heres me never even taken a photo yet, davie baillie watch out,,, its only for fun, cant find smileys.
  19. just wondered silverwings if the bird had been dead for long,i,e,an hour or so, as these small flies could have come from larvae layed there, after the bird was dead. just a thought,
  20. well done carter , that will give the other young lads real hope. great performance.
  21. wow that was some article powerblast, very interesting, and informing, certainly worth going right through. just a point of interest is that the chief vet off. debie reynalds keeps chickens too according to teletex
  22. preston power blast gave the right dosage for flagyl in tablet form, if you get the liquid form its 5 to 10 ml to i litre of water for 5 to 10 days, whether it be tablet or liquid its great for all types of canker, and cheap if you get it in spain , over the counter, less than 3 pounds a bottle, any one on holiday will get it easy
  23. hi westy , going to send you some bits and bobs for you to look through , your doing great in such a short time, would love to see you on result next year, i have a feeling i will. good luck
