  7. yes they do come in differant sizes ,, but usualy not a big differance as far as dummy eggs go there are many uses , i,e, keep a pair sitting instead of driving and laying again ,,,handy to let a hen sit well over due to hatch , then when its about to forsake the eggs , stick a pair of 3 day old ybs, makes them dead keen then [if your a keen yb racer , you can do this a few weeks on the trot,, back to the eggs on a sat.. again with ybs you can fill a plastic dummy egg with a marble, keep putting an extra one under it , till it has about 5 ,ittl keep trying to tuck the eggs under it ,making it keen,,,,,,handy just get them sitting if their eggs have been broken, if youve earmarked them for a race ,,,many handy uses
  8. good to see you posting rick,, hope your feeling much better :)
  9. think if it was paramyxo ,,, it wouldnt be able to pick up grub,, it affects there nervous system and one of the firsr symtoms are ,pecking at the grain but missing it ,, the birds probably exhuasted and maybe hurt also

  18. sorry timbarra,, rubish ,, pigeons need grit [whichever way its presented] pigeons have a crop , which fills up with hard grains , this then goes in to the gizzard , where the grit is essential to masticate these hard grains ,,,thats why , when you feed pellets [full of goodness] you must also give them grain , otherwise you will make the gizzard redundant,,,,,but grit does not neccessary need to come out a bag
  19. if you look back on the forum , you will get plenty of info on garlic,,,,,great stuff ;D ;D thats why im single now ;D ;D ;D

  23. apart from eyesign,, [which i am sceptical about] i beleive the eye is the gateway to the birds health, which i would consider , more important,,, the eyesign theorie , which ,really all it is , has, in my 60 years of keeping pigeons, never been proved beyond all doubt, im not against it by any means , there are many theories with pigeons ,,long flights , short flights broad flights , narrow flights etc etc, we have also, which us humans would term as a" good handler", be it long casted short casted, be it large or be it small , be it apple bodied or deep keeled , we all have our likes and dislikes ,,,,,but one thing for sure is ,, we all like the winner , no matter what it looks like :) ,,,and it usualy looks good,,, ,to the owner, anyway
  24. must say bill, you do a fantastic job, :), updates, pics etc have all been suberb, i sincerely hope yor health problems are better ,,,,,,,the birds, the pics, , the updates , are like a breath of fresh air ,,,,carry on the good work ,,,its great stuff :)
  25. i find your post very interesting indeed ,, and i agree with you entirely,, quality rather than quantity, i see members now [quite a lot] breeding and racing over 100 ybs in to lofts capable of holding 25 birds , i cannot honestly see one man giving over 200 pigeons justice [ybs and obs ] i beleive pigeons are individuals and need to be looked after, as such.,, too many pigeons lead to various problems,ie, health in the birds, and enjoyment in keeping the birds, this is only my opinion , many fanciers are putting the" cart before the horse " a vicious circle,,,,breeding plenty , because they know their going to loose plenty [this is because theres too many in the first place] a really good ,established fancier , who knows his stuff, can keep 25 ybs, win well[ and win pools easier ]hell enjoy his birds and know each bird well , and , indeed give them individual management,,,,,yes quality is definately better, and easier, than quantity.as i say , in my opinion
