on good days i would let my w,hood cocks out [probably a bit unorthodox ] just put that big word in for speck ;D ;D ;D,,,,no but my cocks were out every morning at 6 am if i didnt do this on a friday,as well ,found they were restless all day ,, a fly a bath and they settled all day [[saw this with my wee camera in the loft ;D],, rest goes with excercise and excercise goes with rest , or without proper excercise you dont get proper rest,,,only my opinion
  4. i should agree with what you say, but would advise to go cautiously and patiently ,and concentrate on a good yb team for next year ,,but the best of luck to you, and wish you success

  10. it seems by shu rules anyway that ,you can," quote shu race rule3,",,,all birds must fly to members loft ,and be shown, if requested to two members of the committee at any time within 3 days of the race date, said parties have the right to toss the bird 100yds from the loft, and to see that it re-enters owners loft," unquote"
  11. congrats rick on your other result as for the decision now,,,well i would go with your own instincts
  12. sitting overdue on dummy eggs, then when loosing interest , put a pair of wee yb,s under it ,, but as the above poster says, its finding out what they race best to,as they are all individuals
  13. i agree with pigeon scout,as when the feet are warm or even quite hot ,the bird is in better condition

    Bath

in good weather liked to give w,hood cocks a bath friday morning , found they rested better in the loft during the day ,nothing usualy added but have used condies crystals
  16. absolutely well done to mcleods ,,fantastic racing
  17. seperating the sexes can make a big differance in racing pigeons, and can be used in many ways ,ie ob,s and ybs, by separating ob,s then repairing them you can condition them for certain races ,then again all birds are differant some race better , driving [some ob,s] some w,hood, some sitting , hatching a,separated cock with a big yb all depends on knowing the best racing condition for your own birds

    Milk to drink?

on about salt,,why does a pigeon dive at salt whilst feeding young, ??remember theres salt in most pickstones minerals and grits etc , put a lump of rock salt out [or coos lick,as we would call it ], when their feeding young, and see what happens??,,,they know what they want and when they want it, [theres even bleach in black minerals, if you look at the ingredients]

    Milk to drink?

,,,,,quote "after a long term flight [the energy source muscles prefer to burn over long periods of time] metabolism is slowed, and destructive ketone bodies and lactic acid build up in the muscles and joints, and act as antagonistic poisons, crippling the possibility of neuro-biochemical refreshment" unquote,,, ; phew ;D written by a dr warren r. sheradon, d,v,m, [whatever that means ;D]
