  1. well done wiley ,, pm,d you b4 on this ;D, but some results ,, absolutely top class ,, and well done to sportsman tony for posting this
  2. very interesting and quite important topic , a few top fit birds , would be up and away in a flash if the transporter faced the way suiting them ,, ive watched many libs, and seen this happen , the few top fit birds on the other side would do the same but behind that first batch :-/ the majority of birds to join up , but the winners are off ,, in the libs ive seen theres been birds hit obstacles during the release and landed on the nearby roofs , ive seen a few injured in fact dead, on release , but in all my years keeping pigeons ,never seen a convoyer bring back a dead or injured bird pigeon?, but i can assure you it happens :-/

in my opinion ,if their constitution cant respond to "supportive therapy ", then the birds cannot be strong enough [constitutionally] to be in the loft in the first place
  4. just browsing through the health pages ,,most health issues have been opinionated on this forum , its certainly worth looking back to the many health issues weve had ,,,its really quite a goldmine certainly worth the reading and possibly even adding to it
  5. this evening here in the lothians [weather been great] birds flying ,,,lost looking, heads going from side to side back and forth all evening , in twos threes and fours ,,,,right up untill dark ??
  6. ;D ;D ;D well ,better being a fish monger ;D than a rumour monger ;D ;D ;D[couldnt resist that one ;D ;D ;D] if its true ,,best of luck alf
  7. y b,s especialy deheydrate a lot quicker than ob, ,i remember , to my disadvantage many years ago ,i trained a few members birds in a transit van ,mine were basketed first,, by the time i got round the fanciers to pick up their birds , blether, tea etc, it was allmost 6 hours b4 i arrived at the tossing point , the last birds basketed done this toss in an hour ,about 50 miles,on a warm day , mine and the others basketed earlier had a bad toss and returned with mud on their feet,,,lesson learnt,,, allways have drinkers on the baskets, and allways have them well basket trained to drink ,,,,,once bitten twice shy
  8. congrats karl,, great result ;D
  9. i would continue to race and train ,,,, these young birds should be broken very easy whenever you move ,, as long as they spend time in an aviary ,where they can see out ,,,,i did this in a matter of days

supportive therapy ,,[sounds good ;D] if i had to resort to antibiotics, the birds wouldnt be in the loft in the first place,,,,,,antibiotics are to cure an ailment,, not for routine use my opinion

  17. agree ,,,consructive debates are the answer ,, weather still not too bad at all here [the lothians ] s,w wind
  18. sounds a bit harsh,,,but in nationals , the winning bird is not necessary the best :-/, you only need to look at the result to follow the birds ,,,,but up there,in the result somewhere ,youll see the real good ones,e,g, maybe birds flying 150 mile further than the shorter flyers and the 150 mile ,wind turning to north,[head wind] , but off course this could happen the opposite way so if you race long enough and hard enough, youll get a day that suits you
  19. my thoughts on this subject is that the last flight will grow in at the same rate as the third flight, by the time it moults to the tenth ,,it will throw this again and fully complete its moult,, but time will tell ,,must remember to post outcome ;D
  20. ;D ;D ;D one way of saving tea bags ;D ;D ;D anyone welcome if you want your birds tossed here , so that you can be home b4 them to get them in ,,or single or double up,,,no charge ;D ;D ;D even a cuppa free [see me im a real throw away ;D ;D ;D] had to revive bruno when he arrived [think he spent 3 days looking for house ;D ;D.....he got 2 sugars ;D ;D ;D]

  23. quite agree johno, peter bryant well on the ball......, feel sorry for farmers this year [for a change] between rotten summer ,avian flu, and now foot and mouth theive had it rough, but no doubt theyll recoup cash ,,,,,and we will pay ??at the various agricultural shows going on at this time of the year restrictions have been put in order, no cows calfs etc ,,, just hope the public are made fully aware that this has nothing to do with bird flu, or more to the point,,,,pigeons
  24. sun shining at the mo 7,45 strongish w s w winds weve not long had a light shower
