  1. lighten up ;D ;D ;D im only 8st 9 ;D ;D ;D,,, would just prefer an answer to my question ;D ;D ;D when your at damhead ,come up for cuppa , youll be made welcome [seriously] ill even supply the teabag,,,,,but bring your own biscuits ;D ;D ;D [2mins from damhead] ;D
  2. one simple tip is ,,if you have a bird with a bent flight feather, is to boil the kettle or pan , hold the fractured flight over the hot steam , hey presto , ;D watch it straighten out like magic ;D
  3. the part where i mentioned 10 weeks was the age to start tossing them ,basket training b4 this ,, and plenty flying round the loft b4 this [ranging ] ,thats if the birds are bred in your loft ,,,,,if their new birds to the loft . would get them homing and flying [again ranging ] b4 i attemted to toss them ,it seems you have them homing now [hope you got the two back ] good luck with them
  4. in my opinion yb,s need well schooled , basket trained etc, but not to be "hammered"as yb season is only a few races ,,but as ob,s [with the guts not knocked out of them] will race for many years
  5. this is quite true harky , ;D i watched the prog. why dont the rspb release these lovely little birds ;D in various parts of the country instead of the perigrines :-/ bet bill oddie wasnt chuffed ;D
  6. the way i do it debbie is treat 5 days with coxoid first , then a day with vits in water , then pop a canker pill down their throat, again vits in the water afterwards ,,then worm them lastly ,,there are many treatments now that treat many things at once , but in my opinion this is a bit much for the birds ,,but the choice is yours good luck

  9. sorry to hear of this paulo ,,,but maybe theres another reason apart from weather , i dont know, but can understand your dissapointment ,,,,good luck in the race anyway
  10. they really are great reports its allmost like being there yourself keep upthe great work chat , i think your doing a fantastic job [just go easy on the salads ;D ;D ;D]
  11. allthough your birds seemed to be a bit tired ,they've came along with the others , so i should imagine this toss would do them the world of good,,,,,,but, to send them again so soon is maybe not the best thing electrolytes or rehydration salts [,the same ] would help them pick up quicker ,, but rest is the main thing in my opinion , with a few days rest they'll be raring to go ,,,best of luck

    MOVED

i think this is a problem where fanciers are getting birds from a lot of differant sources , i think , first i would make sure of the sources , but i think having dropping tests done regular to begin with, other wise try to calm and tame the birds to lessen the stress ,vits in the water twice a week ,i think stress is the main factor in" succuming to the nasties waiting to pounce" anyway you can reduce this would def help .....T,L,C,
  15. ;D ;D ;D wouldnt mind getting the £3000 that andy millar got in the" daft wee inland race",the other year ;D ;D ;D ;D

  19. pigeons do like salt but as nature goes, they know when they want it, or rather when they need , its really another mineral ,, see them pick at it when their feeding youngsters tie a cabbage up and wash and sprinkle with salt [when they get over the fright of a cabbage hanging in the loft ;D ;D ;D they will eat it with relish [not yorkshire relish ;D]] cabbage is full of iron [but wont stick to a magnet ;D unless you nail it to the wall of the loft ;D ;D ;D]

  22. having a few later bred birds carrying their last nest flight as yearlings, as they have moulted their 3d flight , theve threw the last nest flight at the same time,, now the 3d flight is popping through and the last flight is popping through, at the same time,,,,,,question??? will this grown in,10th last flight moult again, when it 4th 5th 6th up to the 9th ,,,will it throw the tenth again
  23. yes thats perfectly true andy but their mothers or fathers would say" get that out your mouth", or stop a young baby from eating a tablet mistaken it for a sweet etc" the pigeons are not protected by the parents ,as such , but i completely see your point ,but you can never class pigeons compared to humans ,,never,, they see different , the smell different [especially if not cleaned out ;D] their digestive system is completely different, having a crop and a gizzard , they sense differently , their just completely different ,,,so ,,we have to be their mumies and dadies when their young :)
  24. thats excactly what i mean ,,",if youve good stock," love matches tend to race better and for some unknown reason breed better yb,s in my opinion
  25. this seems a good enough idea [cheaper than the bottle,of oil , anyway ] but the point in your post "hemp used in the right way can make a differance " after using this, oil have found this to be true ,,,but im sure vic would agree,,,the impotrtant part is ,,using it the right way
