  1. im sorry to say, allthough good pics , 4 miles from there at 7 30 it was absolutly bucketing down ,, the birds had absolutely no chance ,,,,,,,,,,,,whatever excuse is given,,,,,,,the birds should most definately, never in a month of sundays been liberated , i should suggest that any honest fanciers with europa birds in their lofts , should be given to me,[0131 440 0484 ], ill collect them if need be ,,and give them to pigeon tracker [from wales] to be returned to their loft and owners i,e europa lofts, on wednesday [this is the day hes doing the scottish run],im sure derick would be pleased for the owners, and himself ,,to have these birds returned and quite sure he would be able to afford the carriage , the weather here is bright and sunny , allthough some might make it home, im afraid most of these yb,s will be beaten into the ground ,i sincerly hope many birds return today , but out of the 1200 birds im not convinced many will return , unless the lucky ones that have entered honest fanciers lofts [and there are many] look after then untill capable of release , quite simply " the pigeons should never have been liberated" ,im annoyed at some fanciers who are competing in this race ,were more interested in the booze up, down in wales , whist these yb,s were struggling .
  2. can anyone post any weather reports ,anywhere from from leicester to scotland ,, for fanciers both in the snfc and snrpc
  3. can anyone tell me as to what time the snfc and snrpc are in fact iberated ,, as on here we have two different stories ,,, any whatever time their of,, good luck to all
  4. i have taken a fair vote by the members of the forum the vote went overwhelmingly to keep this on ,, so, in doing so transferred it to chit chat , there were plenty members on at the time,, i received no complaints whatsoever,, we know well how serious this situation is , but there is a very serious thread on the main board regarding this. i am often in a no win situation by some members , so this was left up to the members to decide ,,,,which they did
  5. you have all had plenty chance to vote,,, 17 for,,, [not including double treble postings ] 3 against ,, its up to chit chat mods now
  6. votes have been taken by both posts and pm,s chit chat ,,now thats the members votes :)its now up to chit chat mods
  7. any mower votes please
  8. any other thoughts please
  9. members please let me know,, chit chat or in bad taste?
  10. very true,, and you can be assured if things dont change quickly tomorrow it will be in the press ,,and as usual the press will make a meal of it ,,,,,,,,,but the race is not over yet ,not by a long chalk so allthough we want the sun we dont have to get the sun :-/ :-/ :-/
  11. i think rose ,,ill be corrected if im wrong.. its 300 ypm
  12. sorry frank ,,not now they havent [wish it were true though] as i said b4, there will be birds timed in tomorrow,,,,some, not under their own steam,, where theres money?? theres muck?? [no, not the wrong way round, unfortunately ] the race , in my opinion is a farce now,, a good enough race in itself for fanciers who like these races , but due to the liberation in such weather conditions , has made it such as many birds are in lofts, and many more flying around here" lost" right up till darkness , i certainly hope the winner is a genuine winner [im sure it would be quite easy to tell by any knowledgable fancier] on looking at the bird on arrival , so hopefully tomorrow , all who have entered ,have better news than they have had today and certainly hope there is a good return tomorrow,,
  13. these two birds are not strays ,, they are birds actively competeing in an open race , which is still on the go , its up to the fanciers decision as to when to release these birds ,ie birds condition, and weather ,it should be sufficient for derick to know just this, there are many of these pigeons in the lothian area ,, there is no need at this time for derick to have any knowledge of ring nos,etc untill of course the race is over
  14. your on the right place now jock,, hope you manage to get a clock , as im sure you will, ,,best of luck
  15. im not at all clear what you mean here grass cutter :-/ :-/ i cant see him mention "controversy surrounding pigeon racing in scotland" or any other controversy in gareths post ,,above :-/ :-/ :-/ this is a thread on the europa one loft race only
  16. my opinion is,, that this, was the worst liberation of all times , be it for money :( the route of all evil, :( ,, through this,, there are 1,100 young pigeons left out, over night in the worst of conditions,[i am just a few miles from hopetoun house, and beleive me , the weather has been shocking all day] with little hope of many of these returning back to their loft , being a spectacular loft or not,,in my opinion, having entered this race in the past [and scoring] found out that , there is a certain element of con,[to say the least] and would never enter in this race again,,,,. but you can be assured there will be birds timed in tomorrow????
  17. allthough i hope not i have to say,,,,i agree,, [i only hope im wrong] its 5pm now,, 9 and a half hours on the wing ,,,, any reports of any birds,, if not,,,,,,big trouble
  18. i certainly hope this is a good race,, however i have my severe doubts,, as i live just a few miles from the lib site, can assure anyone, i wouldnt have let ducks off in that weather,, at the moment here [in the lothians] its damp, cold, with visability pretty poor and a brisk east wind ,,,,cerainly not pigeon weather
  19. yes i agree,, well done clockman
  20. i remember this one rose, ;D, they were nesting on the chimneys in musselburgh and [so called] attacking passer byes thats the papers for you ;D but they were sort of dive bombing people , but swerving off ,,,",not excactly attacking them" ;D,,,this is exactly what we dont want in any reports on eagle owls,, but there was, a good few years ago [wish i could find it] a picture of a sparrow hawk , in the front page of the edin, evening news ,killing a pigeon ,,,in front of all the passer byes ,,,,this was in cockburn street in the city centre
  21. i would like to think so,, must find that one out will check papers
  22. and here is a tame one ,,,just to give you an idea of their size , which is often exaggerated lovely birds
  23. here is the eagle owl ,which will not tollerate any birds of prey anywhere near their nesting site [which have the same sort of nesting sites as the perigrine ] just like any other owl they will come out at dusk ,, this is when they will kill any roosting perigrine , their main diet is rabbit , which are plentyfull
  24. these can be bought quite easy from the likes of " the cage and aviary, mag " for around £100
  25. there are a few eagle owls about both north of the border and south of the border [not down mexican way though ;D] these birds are usually in pairs [which i hope] im in no doubt that this would be the reason for "no falcon attacks" this year,,,again the old adage of the rspb ,,if they are born here in the wild they are native to brittain and have the same protection as any other bird of prey,, but if they are escapees they do not have this protection ,,,,,,talk about catch 22 ??
