  1. a big welcome ,,,whiteracer look forward to your posts
  2. on sticky now,,
  3. this seems to cover wales,,, maybe on this post , we can get names addy,s of other courier services ,,,,and which area they cover, im sure this would be of help in the meantime ,, ive heard of a few, but will let them put their details up ,,,,,,,,,,,,then any possible link
  4. maybe worth repeating for some fanciers ????,, and indeed any would be couriers,,,
  5. as i have said in my last post ,,please use your brains
  6. i sure dont know,, and if i did i would report them ,,do you honestly think im paying money for vaccination when others dont vaccinate lets put this very simple,, any bird being transported in anyway ,, by transporter ,car, or even push bike MUST be vaccinated b4 hand ,, and any courier service must make sure of this b4 taking on pigeons [otherwise they wont be a courier service very long,,, please use your head ,, and think ,,maybe just a bit???
  7. i think les doesnt,,, thats why i threw that in,,,read his posts
  8. les ,please forgive me les, i am certainly not having a go at you, quite the opposite , i can see how strongly you feel about this , which, in itself is a good thing ,,but as you say all the fanciers would need to become members of the rpra, this im sure would never happen [this, alone has nearly caused a war in scotland ;D] which, again , to me is a bit silly, but thats pigeon fanciers for you. i see what your saying, but cannot for the world of me see this work, there are far too many pitfalls in this [iwould love to see it work , for all fanciers sake] but in all honesty cant see it work ,, but one thing i will say, i admire your courage and conviction ,in wanting this to work ,, the one other thing is the paramyxo ,, it is law,, to have birds vaccinated ,so if you have abided with the law , and vaccinated your birds , you have no worry of catching this desease or in fact spreading this desease ,so if any so called fanciers " bury their head in the sand"and do not inject, they are in fact breaking the law, and liable to be fined .
  9. first of all, lets forget about paramyxo,, all racing pigeons should be vaccinated , and should not contract this , , i feel les [as much as he believes in himself , does not,in my veiw, [according to his posts,] possess a proper bussiness attitude for anything like this, qoute " if all rpra members put their brain into gear instead of sitting on it ",,,,do other members of other organisations come in to this, ??,there are many ,,including non racing pigeons [allthough no doubts whatsoever in his integrity, feel he is diving into the unknown without thinking himself ,methodicly, realisticly and calmly ] old yellow [playing , devils advocate ] does talk sense [in my opinion] my question is,,why the rpra ??? does anyone not think that could cause probs,,,as there are other unions not allways in agreement with the rpra,, :-/ my feelings are ,,however much i dont like it,, but money talks ,and i beleive at this very minute [if there is money to be made] there will be the real top guns ,soon running a courier service ,to include livestock,,,,,,,,,this takes a lot of money ,a lot of bussiness brain , there are people with both these assets, that will do the job properly, and soon ,,or even sooner
  10. yes i do agree with your post delboy,[especialy the" keep a balance as much as you can",] but im saying were now taking away from nature just too much , and that we can still learn a lot from it
  11. i was thinking maybe darkness yb,s holding flights [some have a full wing yet ,,,,,,,,,not good for old birds , these darkness birds [only" used"to win yb races ] will have unmoulted end flights at the end of the year ,,and,, will upset the moult for next year afraid ,ian , with due respect must disagree,,[in the nicest way ],,,,, no 1 is possible but useless for racing..... no2 is not advisable [being the first flight] ittl fly ok with this broken flight] ittl probably moult it b4 first ob race anyway [if mated early, bred from and sat more than 10 days on second round of eggs ,, also when you do pull a flight out ,, it often grows in a tad shorter than the same flight on the other wing [only my opinion ian ] ,,,,,,,,,now if it was lice , we know , we have the answer to that, ;D,,,,,,,,the verminator... [pump action,,off course ;D ;D ;D] private joke ;D ;D ;D
  12. brewers yeast ,,vit b c l o ,,vit e i agree on "most bottles are gimicks" when working for vydex ,,,soon found out that,, ;D melvyn johns, owner of vydex [wont get a job there now ;D ;D ;D] driving about in a mercedes , putting us ",mere emplyees" in the best hotels [but had to wear the vydex t shirt ;D] and laughing at the mugs at blackpool , giving him £16,000 in 3 days for more or less glucose ;D ;D ;D,, couldnt get over it,,, some fanciers handing over £300 , quite unbeleivable yet true, but did note ,, the top fanciers , who i know, and new, very, very well,,,, bought nowt,,,,,,maybe a lesson here ;D
  13. excellant reading on keith mott,,, pigeons will fly to anything , as long as they have the three c,s [as said by me umteen times ;D] condition, control and contentment] i won a race , racing a pair to an orange box ,,as a laddie ;D true ;D [these were the old type light wooden orange boxes [even with a section in it ;D] free from the local wee shop ;D
  14. yip,,fewer birds and more single ups ,, if these birds come through that ,,,,usually they are more difficult to loose[barring accidents ] in later life ,,ob,s
  15. agree entirely arch. nature is a great and wonderfull thing ,,,kick at it ,,and ittl kick back ,in some form or other,,these wild birds [as nature will have it] are well fed in the autumn , with all the grain seeds etc to give them a good and natural moult ,,,,,,,then when the" food dries up" they have to fly for it[with their new jaikets on ;D] [in the few daylight hours ,we have in the winter] nature cuts down their grub in the winter , therefore they wont breed [again not talking about the crossbreeds in the streets] theres no doubt about it , we can learn a lot from nature
  16. i take it most have seen the ferals,, [rock doves] raking,at great speed through the air early morning for their feeding, then raking back to their roosting [nesting places],at great speed , of an evening ,,,,,[the real ferals ,,not the crossbreeds that walk about the town streets] ,,,,these birds MUST fly , in all weathers ,simply to LIVE and feed . they fly in torrentual rain ,fog ,,,,,,,,,,when , to be honest , our modern day racer [if trying this] would be saturated ,soaked, and quite unable to fly in this type of weather, and would most certainly" come down" i often wonder, do these birds have superior feathering to our racers ,,,,,,,,or is it because of the survival of the fitest over years of breeding , that produces this "waterproof " effect in these birds ,,,[just passing thoughts ]
  17. i dont think ill be looking at this much longer ;D ;D ;D best of luck to the winner
  18. thanks for the update shadow,,, looks very like ,,,,,,,,,shadows in the running ;D [and im in the walking ;D ;D ;D] good luck to all
  19. with due respect [valance lofts] i find this is exactly whats happening in most clubs, feds, etc, and can fully understand your point 2 ,, but afraid i must disagree , as again,, with respect ,, there are delegates like this all over ,taking their own opinions to unions , feds etc [which in certain cases, are not in fact the club,s wishes and opinions, but their own ?? as stated many times by the fifer "delegates are messengers" to convoy the"relevant message , agreed by club or fed " of the body ,their delegates of ",,,,be it club,,fed or union . if a club or fed does not hold a meeting discussing any agenda,,,, or if the club does ,,and no one votes , the club delegates cannot report and vote concerning any" messages" to any higher body ,,,, as, quite simply,,,,,,,,,,,,theres none
  20. i find this a kind of personal attack on the fifer and a wee bit below the belt my question would be,,would you have did these jobs
  21. made me smile a bit,, but so true, ;D
  22. i completely re-iterate the post above ,, but must say that this pattern of "after the first hour or so " no more birds , this pattern has worsened in the last 10 to 15 years , even allthough there were bigger birdages then , and still clashing then,, ,, allthough clashing [especially with yb,s] is a bad thing, im not convinced all losses are entirely due to this ,,but agree ,there should be more co-ordination in liberations [which,in reality would be a difficult task , due to the british weather ]
  23. in my opinion the" real thing is better" touch of linseed whilst moulting, def, helps ,,,,too much will give them the runs , a handfull is enough garlic cloves ,, just mixed with water [if too strong , the birds wont drink it] cod liver oil [allthough a little is ok] can soon go off, though, in the summer months vit e the sunshine vit
  24. i say you have did the best thing [there are many more like you , these are the true fanciers ] you have the satisfaction, knowing you have helped , the others do not have this valuable commodity good luck to you
  25. not quite sure of your post ,,,, but if a bird breaks its first flight feather ,, whether it be new moulted one,,,,or old one?,, i should just leave it ,,,,,,,ittl just moult it again ,, when its time to moult it
