i havnt mentioned the word "WET" in any of my posts ? but any way, u like deep litter and i dont ! thats ok with me . each to there own . didnt mean to insinuate u were lazy.

i have also not heard of 'deep litter ' that is changed once a week ??

I AGREE ! ive said on another thread that deep litter is for turkey and chicken farmers that keep hundreds of birds, not your average guy with sheds /lofts in the garden ? if you havnt got time to scrape out something is wrong ! iv been in fanciers sheds where the pigeons are standing in 6 inches of sh*t and im being told its the "deep litter system" ???????

My hen I showed you Steph has always gone out with more agile breeds ever since she was a baby so she automatically does what they do. She will fly to the roof of the house no problem and the shed roof is a piece of cake for her. They are, in general, awful flyers though and I can’t see her ever getting up with the homers and doing a circuit in the sky around the shed. Because she follows the others around all the time she probably doesn’t have as much body on her than your birds. Bath time earlier in the year!

ive had problems with the odd 1 or 2 birds but as a rule my birds are steady. try feeding them once a day (not suggesting you starve them though). when you enter the shed they will associate you with food and come to you rather than move away.
