  1. pointed bit is sometimes reffered to as an 'egg tooth'
  2. breeds with chest frills often produce young without the frills. i believe the frill on the italian owl is known as the 'jabot' so my guess is an italian owl minus the jabot.
  3. i keep gbh and definitely not one of those .
  4. looks like an italian owl without the neck ruff ??
  5. i have helped chicks out of the egg in the past but it has never come to any good. i helped 1 hatch last season and after a couple of days the parents stopped feeding it anyway. i fed the youngster myself for about 2 weeks but it was clear the bird was never going to shape up into a healthy pigeon.
  6. same to you and all the members !

  15. Just wanted to quickly ‘blow my own trumpet’ and let you guys know that I am doing my bit to promote keeping pigeons. My article is on page 19 of this weeks ‘cage and aviary birds’ magazine and is an attempt to get bird keepers in general to consider taking up pigeons. Although the piece is a little out of date with regards to what birds I have and where they are housed it was nice to have it published. At a time when pigeon keeping (along with racing and showing) is sadly on the decline an article like this will certainly do no harm and like the TV ad says ‘every little helps’
  16. ive sent you a pm mate.

  20. some lovely birds. i love oriental frills and turbits and would definitely keep them myself if they reared their own young. nice to see a video as well instead of photos.
