  1. cheers Geraint, I have added my name to the petition. thanks!!
  2. if webmaster wants to keep the cheats anonymous i respect that decision but as all the other members dont know who owns the birds in the photos they could still be withdrawn without revealing who the cheats are.
  3. me too hate the idea i may have just voted for a cheat ! (so nearly didnt vote)but still wanted to take part .
  4. i have just cast my new votes for the cocks and hens racers. i voted for the same birds as last time but SINCERELY hope i havnt voted for one of the CHEATS !
  5. totally agree.
  6. im up for that ! missed this thread last night and have only just got up to speed with it. cheating to win a fun competition on here that does not even have a prize is really just sbout as LOW as you can get . no wonder the government wont recognise pigeon racing as a sport when there is this sort of "SPORTSMANSHIP" going on ???
  7. what type of clock do you use ? depends on if im timing an egg or clocking in race birds !!! dont get the hump all ............ just joking !
  8. you guys have made such a good job of answering the question in the initial thread that i thought i'd be lazy and just use a bit from each of your posts that are true to me. I love them so much, they give me pleasure watching them flying, mating, bringing up young etc. Pigeons have been in my family for nearly 100 years I am fascinated by the breeding side of the sport. Breeding: choosing pairs, going to nest, laying, raising youngsters, and then weaning Having the birds around the place is an enjoyment in itself I keep them so I can sit in the shed away from the wife Born into them same as me father had them all my life ,, couldn’t do without them ,,even to sit and watch them , makes me happy

ok ! sorry chrissy sorry tammy this is doing my head in, but this is now my understanding of the situation. i think that possibly there should be a "flying" breeds section but in the absents of this everything but racers go in the fancy. thats reasonable . where it went wrong was wen i read chrissy post and i thought sum breeds couldnt be shown. the post clearly said , (and i quote) "There are alot of breeds not classed as fancies which therefore arent eligable for either section" but now im up 2 speed.

imo just put "American show racers, tumblers, tipplers and rollers" in with the fancy pigeons or have a flying breed section ? its not all 'black and white" . for example there are show rollers and flying/performing rollers both can be shown just need show secretary to decide in what class.

so , (correct me if im wrong pls)but does this mean that if u keep and breed American show racers, tumblers, tipplers and rollers , you cant enter them in the on line show under fancy pigeons ????

  18. ha ha ha ha are u in doing pantomime this xmas dovescot ???????????? ud make a blinding widow twanky !!!
  19. thats cool. a pigeon doesnt care if he lives in a hutch or a petron loft with a tiled roof, power, lights and hot and cold running water ! IMO a pigeon (in its own way) cares if its clean and sheltered from the elements..... if there is food and fresh water etc......and by the looks of it u are doing the business !
  20. nice 1. u stick with it. they may be hutches but thats as clean and smart a set up as iv seen of late.
  21. its not that they are more likely to stray. its a widely held view that pigeons racing home to eggs , babies , or (in the case of cock birds) partners tend to fly with a greater sense of urgency and are therefore faster. however a good racer (cock or hen) will still travel home at high speed just with the insentive of a pleasant environment where it is fed , watered and cared for.in other words home.
  22. its big enough for 8 ybs but you will still need a weaning section if you want to breed with them. ybs are sexed by the time they are old enough to race (you do get the odd mystery)so you could race a team of 8 hens.trouble is you then wont be able to use most of the insentive methods like racing to babies or the popular one of racing cocks home to their hens(widowhood).
  23. lawrie u really need to split the shed into 2 sections because if you are going to breed from your team the youngerns need to be weaned off to a seperate compartment.also u need to be able to split the pairs up after breeding or they will try to breed all year round. if you intend to breed from your birds you cant really get away with more than 2 or 3 pairs in a shed that size . 4ft is rather narrow m8.
