Originally in responce to the first post of this topic: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1196351039/ its very honourable of you to offer birds free of charge and i commend you for it. trouble is pigeon blokes (not sure about the gals) seem obsessed with parting with loads of cash for pigeons with fancy titles and fancier pedigrees ?? its interesting to note that your thread hasnt had a single reply yet another thread in the sales catagory (re. an auction)has had bundles of replies with guys 'bidding' £25 and up per bird? this is what one of our members stateside had to say about pedigrees earlier today. It has been stated a 1000 times on here " What you are looking for cannot be seen " I got 30 + pigeons that have all been 600 miles on BAD races ( 1 race didnt see 1st race bird till 3rd day with 200 + birds on race ) I have these birds in loft at old location and they live like wild pigeons I just feed and water them I band babys from these birds and fly them dont even worry about parents or peds I have given these birds to several people around the country and they have won about 20 races with these birds I can understand wanting to form your own family but I have discovered that if you treat them ALL like champions you will be amazed at how often you are right !!! when i first joined this website i had a couple of nice cock exhibition fantails that i wanted to let someone have free of charge as i no longer needed them (i paid the going rate for them a couple of years ago)but i had trouble finding anyone serious about having them. eventually a good lad from scotland took me up on my offer and now owns the birds but my point is if i had offered them for sale... "2 top quality show birds for sale, out of a 5 times best in show sire and top belgium dam. . .£20 each" i think they may have moved a little quicker?? just a thought, regards and good luck.
  2. is it that time already ?? time flys !
  3. u may be right but if we wrote to our mp quoting the fact that pigeon fanciers from 1 website alone have collected "X" ammount of signatures it might give the letter a bit more weight ?
  4. perhaps a member with better pc skills than i (maybe webmaster) could start a thread with a petition sheet that can be printed off by each member.we could all then go out and get as many signatures as possible and then post the completed sheets to Tic eye Hen . ?

  8. sweet looking little bird that has the 'gazzi' markings but too long in the body to be a pure bred . its lacking the classic brandy glass shape. not knocking the bird though.as long as its not bought for showing its a sweet little bird that looks worth a tenner as a pet bird.

thought i may have got an apology from tammy here ? he said "AS DOES THE ONE ON HERE, BUT IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT BEANS WAS ALWAYS THE GRAIN WITH HIGHEST PROTEIN CONTENT, ASK ANY GRAIN MERCHANT WHO MAKES UP PIGEON FOOD" that statement is wrong ! vetches , commonly known as tares in this country have a much higher protein content than beans? unless grain merchant "johnston and jeff ltd" is wrong top racer and showman Doug mc clary is wrong and the author of the "bible" on pigeons mr wendell mitchell levi is wrong? come on, surely the " tammy" of pigeon basics is not more knowledgable than wendell mitchell levi ??????? please note that this post is very much tongue in cheek and the last thing i want to do is upset tammy or anyone else on this site . its just that if it were me i would have posted on the thread and said "hey , i got it wrong "

    carbs

yes but bottom line is it clearly states that vetches contain more protein than beans ! the tables i have in books also confirm this fact.
