  1. Have a great day Paul,all the best m8 ;-)
  2. Thanks for reply David, I am correct in assuming that the slimy trail left behind by snail's can cause E-Coli ?
  3. I am sure I read by a vet that slugs can cause paratyphus, I know this sounds far fetched but I will try and findthe book out.
  4. What are the members views on Black Rape, I was told by a very sucessful fancier to iclude 25% in the feed this time of year, the moulting mix I use does contain the rape seed however not much more than a few percent, as anyone tried feeding larger quantity's, is it as beneficial as I was told, thanks in advance for replies :-)
  5. Lots of good ones in our area, all with great results to match......but I wouldn't say one was better than the other as a lot of things could influence it, examples would be one fancier sending an average of 8, another sends 30....one is able to train when he wants, the other doesn't have a car....one has help from his neighbour, the other doesn't. These are only examples but they are a few reasons I would not say fancier X is better than fancier Y, ......I just try to be happy with our own performances and try to better the previous seasons results.
  6. I fly in partnership with my m8 who lives other the road, the race birds are at my house the stock at his, everything works perfectly, our system is wrote down and if one of us are missing the other one knows what to do, we have no fall outs and remain friends as we have been for 25 years.......I get to go on holiday and days out with my kids, which I never got to do before, and he does the same.......I went away last week and under his guidance and feeding we took the first 6 in club and looking good for the fed too........go with your instinct mate but the important thing is you must talk to each other when things aint going to good because that is when tension can kick in, we have had our ups and downs with the birds but never a fallout as we talk before it gets to that stage, good luck whatever u decide m8.
  7. well done on your efforts m8.
  8. an even easier way would be 3 weeks before 1st race all the members meet down the club and swap birds with one another and take them home, release them a few days later to return to their original lofts, it simply will never happen Stuart as much as I see sense in what your saying, if fanciers agree to members having there own baskets at the club instead of mixing them then it would solve a lot of the problems in my opinion......we did this last year and everyone stayed clear of sickness but after 5 races the usual whingers complain about a fancier with a basket of 12 birds in a fed of 7000 have an advantage (these are the fanciers that say they have no interest in winning yb races, its all about experience lol).......so we mixed them up again the same fanciers won but club members then got sickness. I honestly believe keeping the birds separate will stop a lot of the problems as fanciers comment their birds are alright until they mix with other peoples then the problems begin, good luck to you all for the remainder of the yb season, lets hope they stay healthy and returns are good.
  9. Pigeon says " learn me to be a water bird, my owner says it's my last chance "
  10. well done Mick
  11. To be honest were we live in the Midlands there are thousands of pounds to be flown for (at least 50k between the Cosworth and Teurlings gold ring races) so there are a lot of fanciers who only race yb's.....I assure you they are trained as often as possible 2 times sometimes 3 times a day from anything between 7 to 50 miles. My own in previous years are trained 2 times a day from 17/18 miles no flying at all around the loft, this year because of time and diesel prices I have given them 7 mile tosses 2 times a day, it will be interesting to see how they perform on Saturday.......in our last club race there were 19 seconds between the 1st 10 birds, 4 members from 6 sent all had birds arrive at the same time, these 4 train at least once a day, I really believe the area you live in as a lot to do with it, if a member trains hard and others dont in my opinion and experience they will win more, just my opinion lads
  12. very poor in west midlands, drizzle and overcast.
  13. Mine were the same this time especially when coming from 7 mile training tosses, I sent swabs to vets and was advised the birds had e coli in the throat and a respiratory infection, a 7 day course of linco spectin and everything back to normal.............but be careful before treating get them tested first.......a similar thing was happening about 8 years ago and once i moved them from 7 miles to 20 they were fine, i think they must have tried real hard to get home.
  14. I got 46, first few tosses I let them go all together, then in 2 lots of 23, then 3 lots etc, i got 6 baskets now with 7/8 in each
  15. I have been training my birds 7 miles twice a day for about 5 weeks now, to be fair after a couple of tosses they were doing what they should be doing, heading straight for home and covering a mile a minute........right do members of the site think this is far enough, our fed races 85 mile 1st race and had approx 7000 birds coming upto a relatively small area......in past years I train 17 mile but with the ever increaing diesel prices and simply time I have stopped at 7 mile only.....what are your thought's and experiences please ?
  16. Hi does anyone know the above fancier, I have acquired some birds of his and would like to ring him to ask him a few questions, thanks in advance.
  17. Click on the lads facebook account he as over 700 friends, surely he is who he says he is, good luck with your birds Nicki.

    Map

Is it possible you could borrow one from another local club m8, they are pretty expensive to buy m8, also when u send it send it recorded as the price it costs you wouldn't want to lose it in the post.
  19. Colin Bradbury takes first 3 in fed well done Colin great flying.
  20. We won Pelsall on 1367 but best I know is Colin Bradbury at Norton on 1392.
  21. that is the correct stuff Karl
  22. you haven't been sold proper nasaline mate, there is no smell to it so its certainly not olbos oil or vix, i dont know what it is but do know were to obtain the proper stuff as I use it prior to racing, I would say it maybe a little severe during the race season and could knock the birds off form.

    Welcome Back

I quite like the new layout. well done to everyone concerned :-)
  24. dont leave them m8 it only wants a nosey neighbour to telephone the RSPCA and you will be in big trouble regardless even if there is corn and water in the lofts, find a clubmate who goes away at a different time you look after his while he is away he returns the favour :)
