  3. 5ml to 1 litre, discard after 24 hours
  4. some lovely birds there Ray, you should do well with them ;)
  5. I seen a program were they temporary removed the sense of smell by using drops of a substance in the nostrils, the birds were liberated and failed to navigate until the sense of smell came back, the point the scientists was trying to make is that all areas have different smells and the pigeons use that to navigate, it was a very good program to watch :)
  6. How can you race a stray and not know, I mean if you are entering it for an RPRA award you obviously think highly of the bird, surely you would check the breeding of it to try and breed more champs like it, then u would realise you didnt breed it and it was a stray ?????????
  7. Yes he should, however I believe that random checks should be made at club/fed level by secretarys to stop this happening, when I was secretary I rang the Reddings lots of times to check winning birds were in the fanciers name, 8 times out of 10 they have our club rings on however I would check when the rings wasnt registered to our club.
  8. No 7 is my preference :)
  9. Just bringing back to top, thank you :)
  10. To be honest m8 I can hear the chickens 6 doors down so you will hear them m8 :)
  11. get yourself a set of baby monitors, one in the loft, one the side of the bed, cheap as chips somebody in the family has usually a spare set. You can hear everything that goes on and you get to catch them in the act and hand out your own punishment ;)
  12. Well done Vinnie :)
  13. I would be content on moving the eggs to other birds m8 if the are producing the goods, however what i would do if u are insistent that you want then to rear a youngsters is as follows. 1. Pair them up the same time as another pair. 2. once they lay remove eggs under the foster pair and replace with pot eggs ( this ensures no breakages) 3. once the eggs under foster pair chip remove one pot egg and slip them a youngster, the 2 pairs will then single rear a youngster each. This is what I would do if you want them to rear, good luck ;)

  22. When my flying partner started back up with show racers 3 years ago Jimmy was one of the first lads to gift him birds that have enabled him to do really well at showing them, I have only ever meet Jimmy once to talk to properly and that was at Doncaster this year were we sat and had a chat over a pint ( we couldn't chat properly because everytime anyone passed they said hello to him ). When I heard what had happened I was like anyone else horrified, so if my offer helps to get some info I will be delighted, I remember has a 15 year old lad 18 years ago crying myself to sleep for weeks when my West of Englands were stolen on boxing night, my dad replaced them 2 days later only for them to be stole new years day :(.........I often think back now to the block of 12 nestboxes I had in the loft I can remember every pair as if it was yesterday, i had them when I was a 7 year old lad. :(
  23. Sorry lads should have made it clearer these birds are our retired racers/stock birds, Jimmy had show racers stolen, ours are race birds, I am simply offering a round of late breds from our stock birds if anyone knows anything that helps get these show birds back, I put the results on not to boast just simply to show that they aint rubbish and there is a little incentive for someone to speak out, they have to be somewere, someone must know something. I too have had birds stolen in the past and know how horrible it feels, I am only trying to help lads...Steve
