my lofts at my old address backed on to a community centre, they were always throwing out food on weekends after parties, weddings etc. with all that food lying about and me having pigeons the rats soon found there way into my lofts. i tried all sorts of poison and the one i had the best results with looked like a white tea bag with purple coloured poison inside and i believe in came from Belgium. I was finding 2 or 3 a day dead on the garden this went on for weeks. I have tried anti freeze on bread and it does work but found that they were reluctant to eat it probably because of how much food was lying around. I was told by a farmer that when setting live traps to wear latex gloves because rats can smell the scent of a human on the traps and this can deter them from taking the bait. hope this info is of use.

i am hearing more and more about fanciers who's birds have been on the dark then put their lights on till ten oclock from late August till the end of the yb season i think it is to stop them pushing flights, is this the norm now for darkness youngsters.

the best tip i can give is never leave grit and minerals in front of pigeons as when it is damp it is a breeding ground for all sorts of illness. if you do insist on leaving it before your birds then change it daily. i am a big believer in having as many sections as possible with very few pigeons in each, if any illness was to break out you could with luck retain it within a section, hope this helps in anyway ;)

i brought my tiled loft of a fancier who packed up he had it felted and tiles on top, the felt was at least half inch thick of dust as it had no escape, the loft had only been erected 3 years earlier. when we took the tiles off the top it was like a fire had been started there was dust everywhere, when i put it back up at my garden i did not bother felting it i just put the tiles straight to the battens screwing about 20% of them through the small holes at the top of the tile. my ventilation now works better than ever, i have seen the new breathable felt usually blue in colour and would think that is liable to clog up as well. my recommendation would be to go without the felt saving you both money and time, ironically the fancier i purchased it off packed up due to pigeon lung. hope this info is of use.

A FEW FANCIERS AROUND THE MIDLANDS I KNOW ARE WINNING WELL ON THE SPRINT WITH THE WIM MOENS. THE FIRST SALE THAT I THINK HE HAD IN THE UK WAS IN 2004. A LOCAL FANCIER I KNOW PURCHASED 4 FROM THE ORIGINAL SALE THEY WERE ALL YOUNGSTERS HE PUT THEM TO STOCK AND HE AS RACED WELL WITH CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN FROM THEM. HE BRED A FEW FRIENDS SOME AND THESE HAVE ALSO DONE WELL IN LOCAL FEDERATIONS WITH BIRDAGES OVER 5000 BIRDS. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THEY MAKE EXCELLENT CROSSES INTO THE FRANS VAN WILDERSMEERCH BIRDS.

I THINK TIMBARRA HAS EXPLAINED HIMSELF WITH WHAT HE AS WRITTEN. AS FOR HIM NOT REVEALING WHO HAS GIVEN THE BIRD WITH 11 WINS TO THEN I THINK WE SHOULD ACCEPT THAT, I FOR ONE WOULD NOT WANT MY NAME ON ANY SITE IF HE HAD GAVE IT TO ME OBVIOUSLY FOR SECURITY REASONS. IF ALL THIS FALLING OUT AND DISAGREEMENTS ARE HAPPENING BECAUSE OF PIGEONS BEING SOLD WITH FALSE INFORMATION THEN SIMPLY A DECISION HAS TO BE MADE TO STOP BIRDS BEING SOLD ON THIS SITE, IT IS CHEAPER ENOUGH TO ADVERTISE IN OUR WEEKLY MAGAZINES AND IF THATS WHAT IT TAKES TO STOP ALL OF THIS UPSET THEN I FEEL THAT IS WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN, IM SORRY IF I HAVE RUFFLED A FEW FEATHERS BUT IF ANY NEW FANCIERS OR POTENTIAL FANCIERS ARE READING SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN WOULD THEY FEEL THEY WOULD WANT TO GET INVOLVED WITH AN HOBBY THAT AS SO MUCH UNREST.

this is my first input to this site despite being a member for about 6 weeks. it seems to me this coxy gets a kick out of treating people like dirt. someone will come on and say there is always 2 sides to any story. then he will reply with some lame excuse and then move on to his next victim, i dont like getting involved in pigeon politics however i feel he should be reported to his local union and also not allowed on this site. if that seems harsh then he should be at least banned from selling birds on the site, hope i have not offended anyone with my comments other than coxy himself.
