I thought it was in the afternoon only found out on sat night and the missus could`nt drop me off . think there are too many sales and i agree they have to move with the times and go on the internet.

know it happens to us all ! but 26 yearlings away on first toss 5 missing (on friday) 4 late breds 3 back tonight all been ripped by falcons (injurys all differant)with rip marks on the back .!! poor busterds on first outing and have no chance even from 10 mls how long must we go on . had to get it off my chest .

i`m not suggesting they are flying all night but have seen them clapping at 11 pm and i live out in the countryside it is pitch black here with no street lights . all in safe and well tonight lol

the reason i did this is the hens fly that bit longer and being on roundabout the hens get out then trap into the nest box section after the cocks have been moved through to the other section , once the light mornings come i will be ok .

i get home at 6 let the hens out for 30 or 45 mins then the cocks ! i leave at 6.30 in the morning so still dark and no one else at home till i come in , the rest of the cocks come in no probs ! and if they have been spooked why are the clapping about as if not a care in the world ! doing my head in .

Looking for a bit of advice ! let cocks out at 6.45 and 2 are still fying !!yes in the dark !! this happened three days ago the same 2 cocks (brothers)were still flying at 11 pm could see them with my spotlight , one is a latebred the other a yearling , they were clapping about even in the dark , am i letting them out too late (i have no choice ) ?? help please .

funny that i just asked my brother for advice tonight for the exact same thing my yearlings reared i yb each been split for three weeks and 5 of the cocks have cast thier 1st flight and his answer was the same too much protien in the feed ! but still a bit worrying for the inland nats .

yes mate i think they stock it . but something else you can try is powdered baby milk in the water it is very good for the squab and the parents . my vet told me to use it once a week when breeding as a great stimulant to the yb`s health , but as always some diagree lol .

try giving a stronger dose of probiotic to the parents and if after that it stays the same it means the yb`s most likely not up to scrath .

I personally don`t buy this east west devide, now i know i have just moved here and i could`nt teach anyone about how to fly doo`s def not from 500 mls BUT what is it that makes doo`s that score in the east that says they CAN`T score in the west ? in most cases your top flyers had to get them from the flat plains of england to start with so my personal belief is the management and aclimitis`n (spelling)because top bred doo`s are top bred doo`s .

i`ve had my eye on one of them for ages ! in fact put me down for 2 derek as flying doo`s in the west is easy even a blind man can do it

my opinion on this ! why don`t every body do as bilco and co have been telling us with some late breds each year ,or why don`t we all use the wormer on the back of the neck (forgotten it`s name ) that is legal but the hawks are alergic to it , and why do we care if we get caught protecting our birds from these bistards, the public don`t and never will care about our pigeons ,the polititions never will care about our pigeons , the the arseholes that call themselves the RSPB are not nor ever will be interested in our pigeons , look what happened with the fox it`s now free to roam our streets and attack children and pets and has now no predetor because they stopped the hunt`s .do as i will do sort it yourself and fook the law . jmo
