They must be exceptional birds, in my experience most hens stop around 10 - 11 years, so what your saying is Del has got a bargain? time will tell. (hope so)
-
Best offer by 21:00, not before.
-
Sneeky F@ker, Nae flys on you Del, thought about it myself nice pair for that price, their age put me off, heres hoping in two or three years their is a good story to tell about them, well done.

We tend to just arrive at let them go also, but with a large team of birds we will release them individually in say three baskets, and the first batch usually take the longest to clear with the last clearing very quickly. If you leave them yes they will clear quicker, but an extra 5 minutes flying around the lib site is extra training and learning them to orientate and it makes no difference when it comes to a Saturday. Each to their own. Can I add that I expect the transporter to be sitting settling the birds as this is a large liberation far from home and not a training toss.

As a Whisky cognisor, you can't tell how good it is until you drink the drop at the bottom of the bottle, so you should send them over to me and I will give you my expert opinion. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Lovely pair of birds.

The Rats will be looking for a new home so keep checking the traps and look to see if the poison is gone, you may find a drunken looking rat during the day, it will be a poisoned one.
-
Looks like you have it covered, keep checking the traps and if you catch it reset the traps and keep them out all winter, we always set them under the lofts in the winter ( I actually have one set inside the stock loft also) I set mines on Monday and they will be Set and checked daily throughout the winter, I got a mouse this morning.

I think YBS and Darkness system are linked, England we getting YBS well before Scotland, and For me the first time we tried the Darkness we got YBS and every year after, but the last 3 - 4 years we haven't done it, we still got it but it was more subtle and easier to control, this year we didn't get it at all. We were at the North Ayrshire moot on Saturday and Gerry Clements said he has had YBS every year since 1994 then later told us he has been doing the darkness system since 1994!

You shows are starting this Sunday, your birds will either be in great condition or not, you won't be able to bring them into great condition in a couple of days, the key is to look after them throughout the moult ensuring a good moult and keeping them a bit heavier than normal for the shows. Remember you are trying to impress the judge, so judge your own birds in the loft, look for the birds that are like oil paintings and stick out, handle them and select what you thing handle the best. Make sure they aren't at risk of dirty feathers and fighting, clean their feet and ring before going to the show, No lice! Weekly baths and a good feed with some trapping (oily) seeds to keep them in good condition over the show season. And hope yours are in better condition than the rest. Remember, even though we all like to win, don't take it too serious as these birds main purpose is racing. Enjoy taking part in the show, and good luck to you and your son.

Q & A Session With Delboy

Great read and inspirational, well done. -
Not sure of the history, I'm sure there was an occasion when it nearly could have been kept by the winner, but a new Gold Cup every time it is won 3 times, in one hand great, but the history of the original Gold Cup is special and I prefer the original Gold Cup every time.
-
The Gold Cup is worth thousands of pounds and is Priceless to the SNFC and its members, and if I we luck enough to win it 3 times and had the chance to keep it, I would donate it straight back to the National as I think most true SNFC fanciers would, so safe guarding the Gold Cup is the best decision ever made, JMO. I was luck enough to be talking to John Duthie at the dance and he was holding the famous cup and I wouldn't touch it, I will only touch it when I have earned it, absolute respect for the Gold Cup, the romance of the Gold Cup race is what it's all about, I hope to touch it one day, but well done to John for winning it Twice and good luck going for the treble, a genuine fancier and a great man. Roll on next year.

The Clearance sale of the late Alistair Murdoch of Johnstone is on in the Kilbarchan club room tomorrow 13:00 for 14:00 and I would think his loft will be for sale, I don't know the exact size but it must be around 16' - 18' by 6', if this is any help.
