D.Hogg of Camelon won 1st West and 1st Section E in Ypres 2011, is this not in Falkirk ?
-
Thanks for that, I have been busy and actually forgot about it, but like I said, I don't fancy the hassle and heckling in the hall, It would be nice to put a proposal forward and let the body of the hall democratically decide, but we all know it doesn't work like that and I don't want to be cannon fodder for some. Maybe I'm not as thick skinned as some, but can't be bothered with the bitching that would follow.

No, Have been busy with work all week, and I didn't have a seconder, also I didn't feel confident enough or have the energy to stand up and justify all these proposals knowing that I would get shot down in the hall by many, but the poll shows that dropping the first inland seems to be popular even if it gets the most birdage, and going east seems to have a mixed response, we will have to wait and see how the meeting pans out.

I'll guess 330 miles

Had a great night, the food was great (no raw veg) the presentation was quicker and went well, the band were on from about 10ish, (but they weren't very good singers). Overall a great night meeting Scotland's finest and having a great chat. Wee touch of a hangover this morning.....

Unless you hold it in a social club then the price of drink will always be a sore point, and where ever you hold it a lot of people will be looking for a room for the night, so I think it will always need a hotel and if we go for a down market hotel this will be another issue, as we are the premier Club in Scotland and should be in a Premier location, so if not the Glynhill then where? Anyway must dash and get a shower for tonight, don't want to be late

I am concerned about the SNFC not the Lanarkshire Fed, and over the last few years the east has served us well, so why not give it a go and try it ? and the measurements are fairer when flying from the east due to the way the UK sits.
-
It won't do any harm to propose it, even if it fails it will start a debate and maybe give everyone food for thought, what is the deadline?
-
Cheers Del, I will need a seconder, I take it my brother wouldn't count?
-
I will wait and see how the vote goes, I think you have to stand up at the AGM and justify every race point and its suitability and facilities, water etc.. I don't know anything about the areas, do you think suggesting approximate areas with the committee to confirm suitability would work or just proposing the East Route?
-
Simple as that, lol At least we have everyone talking about it which has got to be a good thing.
-
Cheers, looks like Bonn, who do you get the distances?
-
Where would you suggest?

SNFC 2014 Race Program East Route Proposal 1 Huntingdon 2 Maidstone 3 Ypres 4 Gold Cup Liege 5 Longest Race Frankfurt 6 Brussels 7 Leicester Exact Liberation Sites can be confirmed by the Committee meeting SNFC Criteria.
-
You may be right Del, but we won't know until we try these race points, we need to think outside the box.
-
Thanks for this information, obviously we would need to look further for the longest race, but this is all food for thought going forward.
-
Totally agree, Stuart, Yes East gives a fairer measurement for the majority of fanciers and yes we seem to get better returns from the east, but if the west was giving us the returns I would be wanting to fly down the west, I think too many are thinking of there own advantages and not what is best for the whole of Scotland, JMO

There are sometimes birds in the north section before their is a feather inn the whole west
-
You could be right but I would like to give it a go, surely its worth a try, "He who dares"
-
You wont get any sympathy from the west boys on measurements, and I agree that the birds will cross into the south east of England and come up the east coast as usual.
-
I hope this map is displayed, it shows a line from Cologne to central Scotland, if fanciers think the birds fly up the entire north sea to Aberdeen, they are deluded, but if this was the case everyone's birds are flying most of the journey in the north sea, the west birds will still be dog legging into the west but the measurements will be fairer.
-
While some individuals get good results in these races, if my memory serves me right the overall returns were poor and we need to look at the big picture.
-
I would like to give the east route a real go, because of the way the UK sits it would give a fairer measurement to all and most east route races have been successful, the biggest disasters in recent years have been mid to west race points, Newbury, Cheltenham, Bovingdon, Messiac, My idea of a race program would be, Either no first inland or Huntingdon? 1 Maidstone. 2 Ypres. 3 Gold Cup Liège. 4 Longest Race either Cologne, Dusseldorf or Dortmund. 5 Brussels. Thoughts please.

Back to the question, I would like to see the web site brought into the modern age, it's too dated and needs revamped and regularly updated, with regular liberation info while we are all waiting on word about the race, also all the loft reports and photos should be on there and the photos from the presentation. PS on all the results why don't we see the birdage wind and lib times?
