Really gutted for you Dav, just read your BHW report and feel inspired for the season ahead, our birds have been locked up since September and we started letting them out in mid January and they don't got out every day and we have been hit 5 times, it is sole destroying. The good dye young.

Our birds were locked up from the last young bird race until the middle of January, we have had two sparrow hawk attacks one injured and one dead plus a young bird with tail flights out which we think was a cat, happy days.

Two things we need to do is 1st maintain the members we have 2nd recruit new members. The first, Is about keeping the sport moving forward with technology,for example, UK wide co-ordinated race liberation web site that everyone could watch and see the wind and liberation's unfolding live with computerized estimated speeds along the journey this would help avoid clashing with today's technology and give a better idea of the eta you would think this would be a possibility, also better organized race programs, like collective liberation's, like what the West is trying to do, just a couple of ideas. The Second, Recruiting new members, unfortunately you can't advertise outside the pigeon world for new members (or could we?)it doesn't matter what issues we face or how great the racing is going, even if pigeon racing had no issues, we will only get new members from being exposed to the sport through family of friends who already have pigeons and they get the bug by direct experience of the sport and this isn't happening unfortunately, as we are declining as the fanciers get older, the sport is getting closer to it's end. Unless someone else has a brilliant idea, I'm all ears.

Yes Del, the wee red has it also and some others show slight signs, but this bird shows it more than the rest for some reason, the other picture I was supposed to post also showed this bird with it when the birds around it didn't ?

I was taking some pictures of my young birds and looking through them I noticed a bird with red eye from the flash in two different pictures and the rest were ok? Thoughts ??

David can get away early from work, so if it's ok we will come along and maybe one or two others.

Del, I was just going to mention jim hannah as a man who has handled more snfc champions than anyone and he says they come in all shapes and sizes. I think you hit the nail on the head by knowing your bird had a drooping tail but also had the observation to notice she had tightened up to a single flight. The rest is history.

Robert, pigeons can counteract the wind when sitting on a wire ,so sitting in a basket in a lorry won't ruffle too many feathers , I didn't mean birds on trees literally.
