  1. It's been the same for years most are loused by 200miles flying in winter conditions and erratic races, come June and July when we all should be enjoying the racing, all they have is the young birds to look forward to, we have been sending some birds to each race, but they have to go at some point and we knew this was going to be a lottery for returns, but if not this week the risk would be next week at 150 miles. Remember last week we were all happy with 100% returns, but David said wait until next week. And we still have birds to blood next week.
  2. I agree, there is no logic to it, but it is a fact Lanarkshire get a good race and we always get Slaughterburn, and we keep going back. I hope Aycliff is a good race.
  3. It's the same every time we go to Otterburn, last week we were at Dunbar, where was Lanarkshire last week, that might help answer the question?
  4. Otterburn must be full of Perigrines, as every time we fly their we have a bad race, I think it's a bad race point and swinging from Dunbar to Otterburn has proven time and time agian to not work. For me the convoy gets split at the race point and some home correctly and the rest go the wrong way and have to dogleg home, and lot's don't make it. Good , keep them coming.
  5. It's dejaviu, we had 71/71 at Dunbar with young birds last year and lost 20 at otterburn the following week, we have 31/39, we were half way at the clocks, even if we get all them home it is still a bad race, I wasn't a t the AGM, but why are the majority hellbent on going to a race point that has more bad than good races and has cost the fed more losses than any other race point, if I remember it was proposed to go from Dunbar to Alnwick then Aycliff, this for me would be a more logical program, but we go back to Slaughterburn again. We choose to send, but Aycliff is no picnic either.
  6. 1150 - 38mph ish
  7. If we are joint convoying then, your right it should be at least on the website and it should have been highlighted on the race program sent out, I wasn't at the AGM, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be informed. And it's not my job to contact the secretary, if everyone called him his phone would be off the hook. These guys are doing a good job trying to make this happen, but communications are King in all things, and the lack of it breeds rumors and gossip which has a negative impact on what they are trying to achieve.
  8. Surely it's the fed committees who are arranging to changes things behind the scenes who are duty bound to run it passed members or at the least inform them, if we are joint liberating with anyone it's not on our race program and I am entitled to know at the least so I can make decisions at basketing time on who to send.
  9. Clearly the lack of information is creating gossip which can't help the cause, im sure Glasgow are part of this project, but as a member I don't know what is happening and our race program doesn't mention any liberations with an amalgamation, we need information on what's happening.
  10. RPRA vs SHU measurements are different and this will always stop a full open result, we will still have a joint lib but no open result until all are either in the same union or the unions use the same measurement calculation system.
  11. SU14 P 7867 came in yesterday, singled up at Euro central today, but back tonight, any takers.
  12. No doubt a peregrine, if they are homing after 6 hours with no signs of being tired, they have gone to ground, flying 1-2 hours around the loft, they are well fit and ready, it is Going to be a tough race on Saturday with artic weather forecast, you need to decide what to send. Good luck.
  13. I haven't read any the posts as I know the script, we are all racing two weeks too early I have been saying this for ten years now and in ten years time we will still be talking about it, we as doo men don't help ourselves, start racing in winter conditions and by June nobody has a yearling left and if you don't race nationals then you almost don't have any racing in June and July and sit waiting on the young bird season, ground hog day, JMO.
  14. If you recorded your arrival on the sputnik landing board this would be outside the loft, but when the birds drops into the veranda area it has entered the loft no ifs or buts, the sputnik is part of the loft just like a veranda.
  15. I can't believe some are entertaining most of this cr@p, the ets system has been in place for about 15 years and we don't need to reinvent the wheel, too much gas bagging, everything for or against ets has been beat into the ground years ago.
  16. If you add a control feed then you can watch and they will tell you when they have had enough, mines are feeding young birds at the moment so plenty feed three times a day, but they let us know when and what they need. Control feed is a grain they don't particularly like, like barley or tic beans.
  17. Del, I think a stall trap, sputnik or any home made system bolted onto the loft becomes part of the loft like a veranda for instance, so as long as the bird has entered one of these it has entered the loft, IMO. We have adopted our ETS to the bottom of the stall traps, the same as Cemetary's, so where you can legally remove a rubber ring on the stall is where we record the time, this year we have made a anti cat trap on one of our lofts and the birds go through some free swinging bobs (to slow them down) before they are recorded in the inside. The actual rule leave's a lot to interpretation and doesn't mention the bird can't come back out, sometimes we have all our birds out at arrival time and they can go in and out as they please, which is my choice and no rule should change this.
  18. Great Stuart, it's my 30th in July, going on a cruise, I will miss a few national s but it only happens once in your life, enjoy your break.
  19. They can be last in every day if one is first in from a national.
  20. Just trying to build some depth into the team so we can do the SNFC program and hopefully get a good yin.
  21. Starting too early Andy and sitting with no racing in the best of the weather in June - July (unless you enter the nationals)

    Sparrow Hawk

Hit again on Tuesday night, all birds locked down due to the attack on Sunday, David came home from work at 19:00 to find a blue on the house roof, he opened the traps and about a dozen birds came out, he got the bird in and it's a bird we lost racing last year but when the rest landed on the loft the SH attacked them but missed, they flew around and landed on the house, when they tried to come down again the SH attacked again and they all lifted and David saw one hit a wire, they all flew for a while but the injured one landed on the house roof itself and the SH hit it on the roof and chased it into the dark this was at 19:50, all the crows were crowing in the near dark about three backdoors down, David went to look but couldn't see anything in the dark, it was a dark chk hen, the SH must have been desperate to do this, hopefully she has had a feed and sitting eggs and leaves us alone.
  23. Yes and we start racing in winter conditions, ground hog day.... Most fanciers will have lost most of there birds by June and have nothing left to do but to look forward to the young bird program.
  24. Lol well spotted John.
  25. Is this program correct, the young bird aycliffe is the same day as the Peterborough race with the snrpc? This means members will be jumping from Otterburn 100 miles to 300 miles! Also it looks like there is no fed racing for about 5 weeks in June - July, I wasn't at the agm so can't complain, was just wondering if this is correct?
