    Ypres 2011

looks like the national doesnt need race controllers this week as there seems to be plenty on here I will move andy miller as chief controller
  3. I quite agree with you knoxjn
  4. I am the same as your self I call a spade a spade but im afraid alot of people dont like that
  5. unusual for them to be raceing on a friday is it not
  6. rene as I have said previously I am one of the race control team I checked out all the live webcams that I have available to me they were all checked out on the french side also on the english side from eastbourne to west of portsmouth and they showed channel clear if it had been coastal fog farther west and birds did encounter it birds would have tried to go round it my own personal feeling on what happened jmo is something happened before the birds reached the french coast because if it had been coastal fog on the english side I think there would be a lot more pigeons home jmo peter
  7. too many races and not enough members and birds for all these races get back to the four races from france
  8. I appologise for calling paul ray once again my appoligies peter
  9. this is what you saidhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/user/5760-rene/
  10. rene you are retracting your original statement as you said it was thick fog throughout the channel then you agree with our contact ray osbourne that you could see 20mls and it was clear along the french coast right up through cherbourg peninsula so if that is not retracting I dont know what is?
  11. next thing you will have to be a meteroligist to be a race controller lets get real lads
  12. have you not read rene last post he now says it was clear in the channel he agrees with our contact that there was atleast 20mls visability and not fog bound as he previously stated with a possability??? of coastal fog from falmouth to possably?? portland
  13. frank if you read the post again this rene stated that the channel was closed out with fog but he know retracts that statement to say what our contact said 20mls visability could be fog on english side at falmouth/portland a big difference from what was said you have got to remember the birds were lib at 5.30am and probably would not reach the english coast for at least 4/5hours
  14. southampton to portland straight line approx 50mls
  15. I suggest you go and look at a map with west in wind the bird would or should have run up the cherbourg peninsula and straight across for southampton not go west to falmouth in dorset
  16. falmouth and portland is away west of where our birds should have been crossing channel with west in the wind on the channel birds should have been hitting land around southampton or slightly east from there nowhere near falmouth or porland
  17. as I said previuosly I am one of the race controllers for the s.n.f.c and I use all the live webcams available thes were all checked both sides of the channel all showed channel clear also checked the weather from the light ships mid channel they gave visability over 7mls jim phoned a contact in alderney he said channel was clear also the irish at st malo probably held because of the bad weather moving into ireland which was into the south of ireland at 6.00am the system I use I subscribe to and I think It is a very up to date system it gives me everything I need to know as far as I am concerned the race control team did there best with the information recievd what happened after the pigeons were liberated god only knows I am sorry for the birds that are lost but with the infomation recieved everything was clear for a liberation peter calder race control team
  18. interesting to know where they were lost from
  19. IF there was mist fog bad weather tell me how did the leading birds from messac do it in the time that they did???
  20. I have sat here and read some of the asumptions of what happened at messac I am as bewildered as everyone else I have also read about fog supposidly on the channel now I am one of the race controllers for the s.n.f.c and I have a lot of webcams in france and uk all the webcams were checked right along the french coast from le harve in the east right up through the cherbourg peninsula and across to the channel island and these are all live cameras that I use they all showed channel clear live webcams on english coast from eastbourne to portsmouth showed the same for channel clear there are 2 light ships in the channel that you can get the weather from mid channel they were given visability over 7mls as for the irish not liberating is probably because they had bad weather coming into ireland if you check out meteox and run it back you will see the rai band coming into ireland at 6.00am Im afraid I am in the same opinion as some others that the pigeons were way of there usual line of flight if 95% of feds are flying the east route then we stick to that line peter
