Finally found a trap which is very like the one that I saw already. Found it on a Polish site - nice traps too although slightly different design. Thanks for looking everyone. Cheers, Steve

Hello All, Saw one of these last week. The one I saw had the net attached to a folding frame which sat atop a box cage which would hold a bait bird beneath the spread-out hinged net. When the attacking bird sprung the trap, it simultaneously released the bait bird from the bottom of the bait-box on the trap. The trapped bird comes to no harm whatsoever, but can be picked from the netting and released safely elsewhere. Anyone got one ? I hear that they are very effective and I'd love to buy one secondhand or new. Cheers, Steve

What part of Dublin are you in and what club do you race with ?

Thought so - and not meaning to rub it in but that is like showing a red rag to a bull - the BOP in the area must have thought that all of their birthdays came together. Libbing 10 together is about as many as you should lib in one 10 minute interval - even if you get hit it would be less than 20% of your entire flock that were affected. Nonetheless, I hope that you get them all back - all the best. Steve

Did you liberate the entire batch together ?

Walked out to the loft late yesterday afternoon to find a late returnee from a 20 mile toss the day before........ Couldn't be sure what was wrong until I got a bit closer........... She trapped after a few minutes when I could get a better look.......... She went straight to her box, after which I gave her a drink, when she returned to her box to rest.... Looks bad, crop is punctured, neck torn, wing mangled (feather damage mostly) and generally well shook-up! Will let her rest until morning and then attempt to do what I can for her. Some pigeon to get back after all of that damage !

40X8 Apex Loft 3-4 Years Old With Aviary

Thanks Glen and all, We got luckier than we even thought - the missing Cock appeared from beneath the drinker stand ( adjoins the nest boxes and runs all the way underneath them) - he must have dived in there for cover when the aviary was wrenched off the side of the loft. We discovered him at evening feeding time last night so he (and we) was happy to see his nestbox, youngsters, Hen and some food & water ! Just need to rebuild the aviary now. Steve -

LOL - It is a little windy here today ! Fed the birds shortly after 8AM this morning - windy but everything looked OK. Was about to drop my eldest lad to school at about 10am, had a look up to the loft as I got into the car only to see the aviary flipped onto it's side and two large holes ripped from the side of the stock loft. Luckily only one bird missing after all of that - a Venus Cock, it could have beeen them all including my Florizoones and Van Der Wegans ! Happy for small mercies ! It will be tomorrow before I'll be able to repair the side of the loft and reconsider the anchoring points - the whole structure took some buffeting today. ATB, Steve -
Happened to me last week - 11 of my old birds wouldn't land for some reason or another - had to leave at 10 PM and they were still flying - although making attempts to land they just would not. Checked all around but could find nothing amiss ! 9 of the 11 trapped at first light, having flown all night - the other two didn't appear for 3 days - one with a broken wing and the otehr badly gashed on it's front - both injured birds had flown onto wires. Strange but true ! Steve

My pleasure - you're very welcome. Cheers, Steve

Hiya, Yes, probably have these - and or 5 more if you need them. Let me know by PM. ATB, Steve

Straight question................ What would we want to add more detail for ? Is it the case that the additional data would be put to some intended us - if so - what. You also have to realise that the more data deposited upon the site, the more interesting it becomes for hackers, spammers etc. etc.. I'm not against the proposal in principle - but nobody has posted a reason for the proposal. From other sites I have been spam-mailed on a variety of subjects including pigeon specific products - so the data needs to be kept absolutely secure.....just like Sony's !! Thanks, Steve -

Hi All, This happened to one of our favourite Cocks on Monday last. Was unable to stitch due to a lack of skin to pull over the area so just dried up the wound with flour. The crop is punctured as evidenced by the water leaking from it soon after I gave the bird a drink. Just wondered what the prognosis might be - will mother nature take care of it, if so, to what extent ? The crop puncture is small - but nonetheless punctured. He doesn't seem to be eating much but is doing everything else - like minding his box, sitting his youngster and taking trips to the aviary. This bird was one of a batch I received from Mark Procter last year and what a belter he is. He is a SVR (Terry McCarthy) X Ganus x Busschaert and we named him Soapy because of his beak. We have three youngbirds from him already and all are top notch so we would like to keep him and hope that he repairs well. Has anyone experience of treating birds with injuries like this (particularly the crop one) ? Any / all advice respected and gratefully received. Posted for interest, suggestions and experienced advice ! Thanks, Steve
