  1. I have removed both birds to a separate compartment and into their own separate nest boxes with access to water only. I have not fed them since.
  2. No - they're not.
  3. Hi All, Two birds in the loft looked particularly off-colour this morning, resembling fluffed-up balls of feathers, didn't show much interest in their morning feed. They are both young birds - approx. 6 - 8 weeks old. On further investigation, I discovered some really green slimy droppings on one perch and some more watery green droppings on another perch, there was what looked like some undigested seed in one of the droppings, although I don't know what end it came from ! I have removed both birds to a separate compartment and into their own separate nest boxes with access to water only. I have not fed them since. Both birds were recently treated for worms, but that was more than a week ago. I'm sure that this condition only appeared, at the earliest, sometime yesterday. Since segregating them, the droppings of both birds haven't really changed, just less of them I guess because I haven't fed them. All other birds seem and look fine, flying for nearly two hours this afternoon, albeit with the help of a large Sparrowhawk during the later stages of their regular exercise ! Anybody got any suggestions as to cause and cure. Many thanks, Steve
  4. Very nice Mick ! That's some drop.....................hope you get some early ones there ! Cheers, Steve
  5. Well done Mick....must have been that pep talk I had with you on Saturday morning ! Now I know why those late breds are so scarce ! Catch-up later. Best, Steve
  6. Been watching these and reading about them myself - I will be interested in the replies !
  7. Only 4 weeks since I transplanted this from Denton in Manchester to Donegal in NW Ireland.......getting there though............ My link It is 20' x 8'.containing a 30" corridor just inside the 3 sliding front doors. There are three compartments inside the corridor, kitted out as follows - 2 x 6' x 6' YB's and one breeding section ready for next spring. Corridor is also kitted with dividers so each section can be partitioned completely from other sections. I added a 2m x 2m x 1m aviary to the section beside the breeding pen, which should work well when I have prisoner stock birds or for orientation of YB's. Thanks for looking, Steve
  8. Happy birthday Mick - enjoy !

  13. Hi All, My new loft is due in the coming weeks and soon I'll be populating it with real Pigeons ! My question is as follows ; If you were in my position, what birds would you look to stock ? Do I go for a team of latebreds which I can both race and breed from next year or would you go for a mix of young birds and some breeding stock to give me a yearling and a y/b team for next year. I know that the answer will be somewhat based on the system I intend to fly which is also dependent on the loft size. The loft is 20' x 8', with three separate compartments - all are doweled sections and each contains their own "open door" if necessary, although two of these compartments have Sputnik traps also. I have a 12' x 6' aviary which I could add to any of three sides of the loft if necessary. I am open-minded right now as to what system I decide to fly and would welcome any input that the more experienced fanciers have on here which would help Thanks for reading, Steve
  14. Hi All, As a returning beginner to the sport, I've just made my first significant purchase - a loft ! It was advertised some weeks ago and I finally got the chance to get someone to inspect it for me yesterday. A deal was struck and now the real fun begins........getting it back to Donegal, Ireland without having to mortgage my house ! Is there anyone on the forum here with connections to the road freight business ? The cost of self-drive is unreal - any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
