    Blakes Lofts

Looks like their site is down. Cheers, Steve
  2. Liberating that many birds together is only asking for trouble ! Try releasing them in 6's or 8's. 15-20 mins. apart - you will then even be able to guesstimate where the Percy's are depending on what bunch was hit and how long it took the others to get home. Better that Percy goes through 6-8 birds rather than 46-48 birds, the odds are so much in favour of the Pigeons in that scenario that it is blatanly obvious that smaller liberations, correctly spaced, will be safer and more effective for you - particularly if you have a round of latebreds bred especially for the cause ! Cheers, Steve
  3. Nice George...best of luck for the seaso. ATB, Steve
  4. Thanks for the nice comments - just need to fly a few winners now !
  5. Yes, the loft sits upon a 40' x 12' "pier" foundation. 40' x 8' for the loft and the 40' x 4' for the front walkway. I dug 18 ( 6 x 3 ) 2' x 2' x 1' holes which were filled with concrete, when they were setting, I cut 6" drainage pipes to the level, sank them into the holes and filled them with concrete too. Once filled, I then inserted one end of a steel strap and allowed the concrete to cure. Once cured, I placed a wooden sub floor of 9" x 3" scaffolding boards, on edge, upon the piers and completed the strapping, looping the straps over the sub floor and reattachhing them to the sides of the piers with masonry nails. Really solid job - needs to be as we get some serious winds here in the winter. I have documented the entire relocation and rebuild on the following thread on P1geon Ch4t... There are over 80 photo's and a diary included. http://www.pigeon-chat.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=51789 Hope this helps and answers your query. Cheers, steve
  6. Thx guys - thought it might be of interest
  7. Re-located - Re-erected - Re-ally Cool !
  8. Eagle Owl CD is but a deterrent, and the hawks will get used to it and it becomes like all of the other deterrents - useless. I heard this morning of a pigeon that was taken as it perched on a speaker which was positioned on top of the loft. Just be careful. Steve
  9. It's been posted many times about how to take care of this problem - seems like people prefer to moan about it rather than actually do something about their problem. I sympathise with your situation but - in reality - you are the only one who can sort it. PM me if you wish. Best of luck. Cheers, Steve
  10. Thanks all for your kind wishes. ATB, Steve
  11. Super analysis - fair and unbiased - well done.

    Lost Two Hens

Plenty posted here and elsewhere about how to stop the carnage - talking about it for anything other than interest reasons is utterly futile. Horible thing to happen but it can be stopped - relatively easily - just needs a will ! Cheers, Steve
  14. Where are you based fella and do you have any record of what the birds have done please ? Thanks, Steve
  15. You were obviously close-by when it happened or at least came-upon the hawk soon after it entered ? Always wondered what they would do if they couldn't get out and were trapped inside with the birds. Cheers, Steve
  16. Did Mr. Hawk do any damage to your birds during its brief visit to the interior of your loft ? Thanks, Steve
  17. Confidence indeed Roland - good for you ! Forget the youngster and we'll make it a few friendly pints the next time we are in each others company - OK ? Best of luck Saturday - I'll be watching
  18. Yep - and one of our worst performances ever - nonetheless - we won. I'd like to think that our performance against the French was more like our ability, and we didn't deserve to win that. My point was that a super performance against a weak Italian team by England is not a barometer of what they are going to do either against Ireland or France. We'll see on Saturday though. Cheers, Steve
  19. You obviously know next to nothing about the game, notwithstanding my respect for your opinion, it is only an opinion - and a typically superiority complex-ridden one at that ! We just love it though ! But don't come on here looking for sympathy when France and Ireland hand ye ye're asses 'cos if you think beting a poor Welsh team and a completely inept bunch of Italians puts you in the 1st class seats to the WC then prepare for a fall my friend ! Here's to the weekend......and a few home truths ! All the best, Steve
  20. Lot 10 - £ 75 please Thanks >>> IB Lot 10 - £ 75 please
  21. Whilst I appreciate and respect the rest of your post (no need to reprint) the above quote is not accurate in as much as there is a much better value to the outstanding loans being sold-on to another "lender" rather than collect them to satisfy creditors. Truth is that a loan is based on a legal document which the Bank must adhere to assuming the other terms of the loan are being met. This protects the borrower. Saying that, it is the selling of "debt" by the US that has most of the rest of the world in financial trouble, not least my own fair isle of Ireland. The likes of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac banks were mortgage providers, who loaned to anybody on a very high percentage basis (i.e. 100% mortgages). When they couldn't collect, they packaged this "debt" and sold it to other banks at a knock-down price. The other banks were thrilled, until they went to try and make some money from these loans by either collecting or selling-on the debts. To their astonishment, the loans were rated as less than one star, having been sold originally as 5 star debt.......and the banks here got their comeuppance ! share prices fell through the floor, reserves were used up and internal management pressures forced a tightening of credit and a reduction in the creditworthiness of the banks - all because they were a greedy bunch of Cnuts ! sorry for the veering from the point, but it was relevant to your post. Debt is more valuable than cash ! (In the financial world) Steve
  22. Lot 3 - £35 please Lot 10 - £35 please Thanks >>> Ian Thanks, Steve Thanks>>>> IB
  23. G'wan Wales ! By 1 point would do me !
  24. Frightening stuff guys, very few here in the Emerald Isle as yet but with changing climates and food becoming scarcer in general for all species I expect that it won't be long before we have a sizeable population here too. At least they return to their food and can be trapped - unlike Percy ! We've enough problems here with Sparrow Hawks and Percy's without these killers. ATB, Steve
