    Oats

Hello, I came across an advert in DoneDeal for Whole Oats, untreated, for €15 for 50 KG. This is weriously cheap food in Euro terms, and probably what Batrley should be priced at if I could find any here in Ireland ! I know that it Oats are a constituent of many commercial mixes, but wondered whether it was worth buying for use in a winter resting type mix which I could make up myself ? Has anyone experience of feeding Oats to their birds, comments and suggestions welcome. Many Thanks, Steve
  5. I think that you will find it difficult to find a suitable temperature to get your bords as far as 80 - 100 miles before June next year, when some of your early, shorter races will be over. One of thebiggest causes of yearlings being lost is cold winds - they really do not like them.....thats not to say that they can't be trained, just not at that distance IMO. Cheers & best of luck with them, Steve
  6. Well done for reporting this - thank you ! Steve
  7. Agreed, looks like a wire hit to me, but who knows ??? Great repair job though - well done. Steve
  8. I used to have a Window Film business and we removed lots of this stuff - although it was from glass as opposed to plastic. We soaked newspaper pages in a solution of water and fairy liquid, and "stuck" them to the windows. We then continued to keep the pages wet on the glass until they were properly soaked through. This loosened the adhesive which allowed us to scrape the glue off. You may or may not be able to scrape the plastic, and using some of the solvent through the water and washing up liquid would probably assist further. Hope this helps. Steve
  9. Sorry to hear that - must be devestating ! ATB, Steve

  11. All old news - rehashed - and filled out with more BS to make, what on the surface at least, appears to be a story

If that is the piece from the McLoughlin Lofts website, fanciers could do worse than read some of the other health tips and general tips offered there. Great articles and write-ups. Good Post ! Cheers, Steve
  13. Yep - one of the original "Crooners" ! Loved his version of "I can't get used to losing you" which he collaborated with "The Beat" on in the late '80's. Steve
  14. Very nice birds - just seen this thread ! 765 miles is some distance. ATB, Steve

Hiya, Yes - it wouldn't hurt now - would it ? The deterrents need to comply with the law - I also know a bunch but I'm afraid that censorship of one form or another would make them illegible to most Keep up the good work ! Steve

Great write-up and bang on the money factually. I entertain many SH attacks every year and have never seen a SH carry a pigeon "away" although I have seen her take a bird off the loft roof and "glide" with it into a field some 15 - 20M away, whereupon she dragged it to the verge of the cut field where the grass was longer before trying to deplume it. I had to intervene at that stage and it only reluctantly let go........ Good article - well done, Steve
  17. Take your time - recuperate fully ! Hope you are better soon, ATB, Steve
  18. Sadly, the fancier who clocked on the day from France, passed away recently. (Surtees ?) Great film though, I have introduced it to others whom had no connection to pigeons and they enjoyed it too. ATB, Steve
