  1. Heres a story for ye When I visited the Blacks of Dromore Davie told me about a pair of identical sister nestmates. One was always stock and the other was their main fancy for the race(Think it was Dinard, but cannae mind 100%) Davie was busy on the day of basketting so his brother sent the doos, think there was 11 of them.Anyway he sent the wrong sister-the one that was a stock hen and had never been in a basket in its life, leaving behind the fancied bird. As you can imagine Davie wasnae too pleased and expected never to see the hen again. The race was a hard one with something like 20 on the day of lib,the Blacks clocking two on the winning day.The first bird into Ireland the next morning was the identical sister hen in her first ever race
  2. Best o' luck Martin As a point of interest the furthest Toddler Brown's 2003 1st Sec D 12th Open Reims had been that year before the Gold Cup race was Carter Bar
  3. Davie Youngs the man for that- me: "How many ye sending this week Davie?" Davie: "5 or 9"
  4. thats waht i was getting at Andy but tried to put a more positive spin on it with many losing their main candidates in the last few weeks will they have a change of tact or miss the race altogether A good Gold Cup race would raise the spirits there was a time when it was the biggest day of the year in Scottish pigeon racing and I like to think it still is.
  5. Thats correct Andy but I'm asking about Alencon Best o'luck ALF A good one fi here would make it all worthwhile
  6. Hope it turns up for yous John Aye its no turned out as bad as I thought. One of them is doubtful for the rest of the season-shes got secondaries missing from boths wings,I've never seen this before
  7. For many its been a far from perfect start to the Scottish National Flying Club's 2012 campaign, but very well done to yesterday's winners Despite a tough week we've still got to think there is a lot to look forward to. Are your plans still intact for the main event?? How many do you hope to have at the race?? Lets hope for a good Gold Cup race this year and best of luck with your preperations.
  8. Got the latebred this afternoon so just the yearling hen to come Its not upset the apple cart too much but its a week the birds could have done without.Nobody's fault but mine
  9. Had much the same experience Wiley. One of them managed a 3rd one week but they were never the first pigeons to the loft. Tried the youngster and lost one of them that week, putting an end to the madness
  10. Had two cocks paired together last year.Gave them a bowl and some eggs and they sat on them in turn for over 6 weeks, had never seen the like of it.
  11. got another two this morning up to 9/11 a yearling and a latebred still to come
  12. Thank you for pointing out I'd left with an unsealed clock Its saved some hassle this weekend
  13. Good birds up there that will have flown a lot of the journey home alone
  14. Was half tempted to drive back up to the doo kit just now after seeing you getting one so late on but it'll wait til tomorrow morning.I'll away and take the dug a walk
  15. so is it 1/110 in the North section at the close of play?
  16. great effort from the doo Frank dropping at that time
  17. Just back from the loft with 7/11 possibly the four I fancied most fer the race(2 of which have channel diplomas)are the ones no hame, shows ye what I know First inland national we've been to and tempted to say the last.A blight on local racing and national channel racing in my opinion
  18. well done all who timed Was glad to see pigeons, timed one at 1649 and one at 1659 hopefully be more when I go back up
  19. cometh the hour, cometh the man
  20. This is the first inland National(outwith fed duplication races) we have ever sent to and I would say now I regret it.Really just want them home now as its causing a lot of disruption in the loft. It was my father that put me off these inland national races for a few reasons,I took a bit of convincing but came round to his way of thinking eventually. This year however I decided to send-partly because there was a difference in our fed programme from last year which meant there was no race of 250 + miles the same weekend. I have said this before on here and still stand by it-Without these inland nationals fed/local competition would benefit as would national channel racing Not really related to this weekend/weeks episode I know which will all come out in the wash
  21. hopefully get them up the morra theres a better chance than theres been the last three days looking at the forecast anyway
  22. emptied it there Wull
