  1. The cock that won 1st NW Fed yearling trophy Maidstone for us in 2010, sat a small youngster for five days leading up to basketting without a hen. I picked '47' the cock who had been first to the loft nigh on every week as the pooler though-I'm still waiting on him .Fortunately Wee Billy, our old friend, had the foresight to have a wee flutter on him. This doo changed my views a wee bit on certain things as he was one of three in a drop(including 47) to the loft from the first race of the season in April and was the 2nd in the clock, 2nd club, 11th fed I think(memory) then he was 1st club, 4th fed from the last fed race at the end of June into a North wind. Been trying a lot of things with hens sitting overdue for the national races in the last 3 seasons. It's been a bit hit and miss so far, but once I master it yees are in a power ae bother
  2. lid blew off our septic tank, had to traipse across the moss to find the bugger. Blue bin and it's contents strewn all over the place. A bit of picking up, but not bad at all compared to some of the stories. Thankfully the dookits are all still in one piece
  3. In fact scrap that question
  4. no sure Andy, but is the doo one from the Dean Pallet SVR collection?
  5. Rowena didn't get one Derek I don't think. She scored five times including 1st open, but on one occasion she didn't get a section prize
  6. All the talk of pints, wine and Bacardi on this thread has got me in mind for a scoop. Think I best get tae bed
  7. I'm tempted to say three Derek 2 SNFC 1 SNRPC
  8. For anybody interested in Pol Bostyn get a hold of Piet Deweerd's memoirs Vol.1- one of the best pigeon books I've ever read!!
  9. Yees can both get a point then Peter, which unfortunately counts for FA as I don't have any prizes to give
  10. Yep, apologies I was mixed up with lady Helen the silver award hen, too many names getting thrown around at once
  11. Apologies Derek. I'm getting mixed up wi his doo Lady Helen
  12. The Clive 76 I was meaning belonged to the Wooff Bros of New Ollerton, still at the t0p of the NRCC in their 80s A bit ahead of their time when it came to the widowhood, and one of the UK's master exponents of the system I didn't know of Eddie Newcombe to have a Clive 76, but as always stand to be corrected DKj has got No.3 tae thus concludes our broadcast day
  13. Lady Janet was later on Andy, an SNRPC Gold Award winner I believe-containing the blood of Dennis' own Rowena (1st open and five time a prizewinner but no Gold Award)and a bit of Jackie Ritchie's blood from up North
  14. Delboy’s got No.4 Mik has no. 6 Off one skin and Mossgiel have No.2 Mossgiel and dkj have no.8 Good PB team effort just leaving No.3
  15. that's not right either I'm afraid Andy Rebecca was three times in the first 35 open SNFC including 6th Open Nantes, but not the right answer
  16. yees have 5 and 7 right, but try again on question 6 Kelly Tom Shes one the brawest doos I've ever seen but not the answer
  17. The questions arenae too hard, see how many ye can get without cheating 1) Which loft won the UNC combine for the 5th time during the 2013 season? 2) Last week saw the passing of one of the SNFC’s greatest ever fanciers, Dennis Dall. What was the name of Dennis' first SNFC Gold Award winner? 3) Who is the only fancier to have taken the first four positions from the Pau race with the Belgian National? 4) Who owned and raced the pigeon, Clive 76? 5) The Telfer’s of Motherwell rose to prominence with their famous Black Jets. What were the names given to their foundation pair? 6) There is only one pigeon in the history of the INFC to have featured three times in the top 10 of the Blue Ribbon, Kings Cup race. Who flew this bird and what was it called? 7) In 1979 the Fear Bros of Clandown had their greatest ever season, attracting the attention of Jim Biss who bought their three great champion birds-What were they called? 8) Only once in both the histories of the SNFC and the INFC King's Cup events has one fancier taken the first two positions. Who are they?
  18. Good stuff again Andy Well done Mick
  19. His wee red latebred cock is turning out to be a cracker, we'll hopefully get a wee turn out of him in the coming seasons
  20. A great gesture Danny. The birds you've had to part with are a credit to you
  21. Nah I was just at the wind up Frank,I'm not that bothered what fed or section we are in. It's just the route and race programme of our fed that bothers me Not the end of the world I suppose, just got to get on with it
  22. In light of this information do you think there's a chance, Peter, the boundary could be looked at - with a view to incorporating Avonbridge lofts ?
  23. Give it a bash William. We put a new front on the big loft in the winter in 2011 that's around half Perspex. At this time we also changed the section so the boxes run round two walls in an L shape. Not exactly the same but the doos can see into the boxes on the wall they arenae on. If ye arenae totally happy with it ye can always darken the nest boxes. I done this in 2012 with Sterling board and some other bits and pieces I had lying around. It was mainly because there was a right flighty cock in there, so his was darkened first after I seen how much it calmed him down I just done all 20 boxes. We always had fairly open fronted nest boxes but I kinnae borrowed the idea after visiting Robert Cormack and a couple of the Ulster fanciers, albeit I didn't have any Sinn Féin or DUP campaign boards to hand I think it's made a difference as they've the benefit of a light loft, but have their own wee private bit in it. Anyway, ye dinnae need me to tell YOU about doos If yer dad would let me in his dookit I'd maybe get to see what kinnae nest fronts he's using
