  1. safe and well Wiley Nice to meet a few of the cockney nutjobs they'll need to practise at the old pool if they are to beat me next year
  2. Very flattering I have to thank John Hood, John Bosworth, Jock Alston, John and Patricia Ellis and Cameron Stansfield for their help and encouragement with the loft reports I've done in the last year. I can only hope they are of interest to some Anyway I'm away to say goodbye to the doos for the weekend, who will be left in the capable hands of my younger sister The last time I couldnae get to them for a couple of days she took my request of 'make sure they have plenty' a bit too far. They won't go hungry when I'm in Blackpool anyway
  3. I don't really want to labour the point that was discussed a couple of weeks back on here about Saturday libs. As I said from the start it's what has put me off of voting for what I consider to be the best proposed race programme. Anyway I spoke to a friend who races in the UNC this evening and he couldn't believe there was a suggestion in to have our main channel races on a Saturday. The UNC used to have their channel races on a Saturday and he was one of the fanciers who fought to get them switched to a Friday. To begin with there was a lot of opposition and of the 23 feds in the combine only 4 were in favour of Friday libs, the following year it was 8 then the next year they got a majority of 14. The last couple of years there has been little to no opposition and he feels the libs on a Friday have provided them with far better racing that the Saturday. This is only his opinion, but it's one that I personally value and find reliable. The only cross channel race at present they have that has a scheduled Saturday lib is the shortest one and the convoy don't have too far to fly before they reach the channel. As far as I'm concerned it really is a pity the SNFC management committee recommended programme couldn't see the Alencon and Clermont dates altered to Friday instead of Saturday libs, but as I've said on here before -it isn't my club the members will decide and we will have to live by the decision
  4. this was written by Ian Pattie the year before he won Niort, but it gives you the background of the doos and a few of his ideas on racing
  5. :emoticon-0136-giggle: It will be nice to bump into yerself again Andy Enjoy your weekend
  6. He was brilliant in everything I ever seen him in. This is one of the scenes I'll always remember him for
  7. After getting in touch over PB I'm looking forward to meeting Bernie(Demolition Man) in person at the Blackpool weekend. If anybody knows of a good Cockney to Scottish translator let me know
  8. That's the best I've heard anyone come up with so far John. I first met Robert when I was 12 at a SCC presentation in the Hillcroft Hotel in Whitburn. He won the combine from Lille with 'Lyrona Dainty II' that year and my father and I got the Jim Dunoon Trophy for runners up. It was a good year for Avonbridge in the SCC that year as my clubmates Davie and William Young won the Yearling Derby and my dad won the best average over the SCC races. I've gotten to know Robert since and can say without question he is one of the best pigeon men I've ever met. So thorough and meticulous as a fancier, even today although he doesn't race anymore it's such a happy loft environment he has for the doos. A class act
  9. Some Cormack pigeons The first one is the 'Frill Hen' Dam, G. Dam, G.G. Dam etc of numerous winners.Mother of 'Lyrona Producer'. She was bred by Jock Reid. 10. This pigeon 'Tryst Frill' the one that was 21st Open for Jock Reid in the Avranches result on the other thread The other picture was taken at a NW Fed presentation.Jock Reid(front right), Hamilton Sloan(top left), Bert Hunter (top right). The fanciers in the doorway are Robert Jack and Ian James. No one I've shown it too can identify the guest presenting the trophy. Any ideas?

  14. That's not something I can comment on with any first hand experience Stevie. Whats your thoughts on it?
  15. I've lost track of whats here and what I've given to people I gave about 30 odd 70s and 80s pictorials to a clubmate before Christmas. I'll have a look for you anyway.
  16. There certainly is, but we've been to Alencon, Clermont and Ypres a good few times now and I personally wouldn't like to see the club stray from these racepoints in the foreseeable future. Looking forwar; the birdages, membership and racepoints are different but the opportunity to test pigeons over the water at these long distances still remains . There have been performances from the modern day racepoints equally as great as from the old ones and I'm sure there will continue to be in the future. It's the SNFC that's the thing. The biggest asset Scottish pigeon racing has left in my opinion.
  17. imagine no letting him buy any doos
