It wisna looking good for a while but up to 14/19 now and still working in Seems to have been a fairly patchy race all round think the fed toppers will be doing kinna 1040-1030 velocity
If you feel confident in your control over there trapping you could try letting them out before you basket them for training. I've done this with youngbirds in the past for a slightly different reason to yourself, mines would take 2 or 3 hours to come from training . I suppose when you think about it if they are in the habit of ranging for an hour or two then you take them 15 or 20 miles,a distance that should only take them around 25minutes,a fit and healthy baby will be full of flying. that worked for me but you'd be best to see what a lot of the more experienced members think.
Always nice to see a doo thats made its OWN way back even if it is a bit thin. She'll be right as rain by the weekend Speaking of rain just got drenched out with the dogs
[quote name='Delboy' date='20 July 2010 - 15:43 PM' Its a bast... when it happens m8, isnt it. Cheers It most certainly is!! You can have the best trapping doos in the world(mines have always been fairly decent)but if a sparrowhen strikes them or their pals off the landing board a few times they soon lose confidence
Aye i know if i come home and the doos are on the house roof or the neighbours house roof somethings scared them ie. cat or hawk. when the hawk was going through them during kamikaze season they'd land on the house roof which is a good 50m from the loft to sit for a good while to check it wasn't about before entering the loft. the hawk used to sit in the trees behind the dookit and wait for them coming out the bowl.I even seen it sitting on the roof of the loft directly above the stall trap once.
This youngsters come in today at some point. If any of th PB members have got the Lanarkshire fed sec phone number handy or the bird's club sec number even it'd be appreciated. Cheers
