  1. Well done to Paul Thomson who won the race. Just in case you can't open it Paul! 2. There you go! BHW August 26th, page 87.
  3. Aye, I've been telling you for a while Paul. If you want some for free give Fergie a ring he has some trees, that's if the wee birds haven't had them all away. The article in the BHW last week was the Irish fellow Dennis McDermott.
  4. So cut just a wee hole deep enough for the air to come out but you will have to do it two or three days on the trot.
  5. Suck it out with a syringe and needle, the biggest needle you can get. You'll need to do it for a few days though. Much quicker to make a small hole with a very sharp scalpel then squeeze the air out. It will keep filling up again for a few days but less each time. I nearly gave the same answer Archie!
  6. STV news tonight. Minister's geese attacked by one of these birds in Fife. Ripped the minister's back when he went to help the goose. RSPB said that they will give the man advice on how to protect his birds in the future in case the eagle comes back when it is re-released.

  8. Hi John, I'll give Carlton a bell and let him know, Jim.
  9. Next time you have a bird with YBS stick it in a pen with two healthy ones with colodial silver and a drop or two of elderberry juice in the water. The healthy ones will not catch it.
  10. Paul, it is one of Jock's. Thanks for letting us know Lee.

  17. Hi John, The Forres doo belongs to Carlton, I've tried to call him but am getting no answer. Jim
  18. So do the Shetland lads. They lib them from the boat just before it docks at Fair Isle. Kenny can tell you more about it. Anybody want to sort out a Scottish National from the North Sea, It would be fair for everyone!
  19. We also had the same problem at the start of the old bird season. I think it still happens now but not as often as it was.
  20. There's apair in Inverness now and our latest addition is a Goshawk.
  21. The Fed are at Thornton this weekend so you've just missed the transporter. I'm sure if any of the Elgin boys see this post one of them could arrange to have the bird put on the transporter next week and let it out at Brechin or we're back to Thornton 20th August.
  22. I had a red chequer hen stray in last week and reported it to the owner who was very keen to have her back so she was box up and away with the SPDS on Tuesday. The owner was a right nice guy from West Lothian and is still excited about Fallahill Superstar. He won the National with him in 85 I think he said. He said that he had given up racing for a while but had kept some of the birds and was now back racing with his Grandson. Eddie phoned again on Wednesday to say the bird was home safe and in good nick and if I put a ring down to him early next year he would put it on a youngster for me from the bird I returned, which was a Granddaughter or Great Grand Daughter of the said Fallahill Superstar. Like a lot of you have said, he's a really nice guy, a gent.
  23. Oh BRITAIN, where did we go wrong? We're "broke" and can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.? Are you aware of the following? The British Government provides the following financial assistance: - BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER - (bearing in mind they worked hard and paid their Income Tax and National Insurance contributions to the British Government all their working lives.) Weekly allowance: £106.00 IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN - (No Income Tax or National Insurance contributions whatsoever) Weekly allowance: £250.00 BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER - Weekly Spouse allowance: £25.00 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN - Weekly Spouse allowance: £225.00 BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER - Additional weekly hardship allowance £0.00 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN - Additional weekly hardship allowance £100.00 A British old age pensioner is no less hard up than an illegal immigrant or refugee yet receives nothing! BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT - £6,000 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT - £29,900 Please read all and then forward to all your contacts so that we can lobby for a decent state pension. After all, the average pensioner has paid taxes and contributed to the growth of this country for the last 40 to 60 years. Sad isn't it? It's about time we put our own people first. Most people won't have the guts to forward this. I just did!
