Benefits Of West Route Into Lanarkshire
JohnQuinn replied to lanarkshire lad's topic in Notice Board
Personally i see no benefit either west or east, the best doos still win the races and we lose some doos every week, and just as we were thinking this one or that one would have come on and done us a turn it goes down. No one has any idea what happened to their respective hopefuls but they'll come up with something that doesn't include their own management. jmo. -
The man done the gentlemanly and correct thing by Pm yesterday, so i'm safe enough going to Carluke
-
I CLEARLY explained where the doos would be today and why, thought we might get a 7.30 but as yet no word to me from anyone on the team. Certainly won't have anything to do with the DRIVER Charlie!!! WE BIT DECORUM NEEDED from you!! LOL
-
In a word "YES" that must be the worst run fed in the country.

SNFC inland National being one Danny

Yes George we will be at Longtown tomorrow, and as far as i am aware the drivers hours had F all to do with the decision not to move today. Fact is the Yearling Derby is an important race for a lot of fanciers in the Fed and in forlorn hope that it might clear up enough to lib, the birds were kept at the race point. There is NO chance of a lib from there tomorrow either so the birds will be brought to Longtown which is the only CERTAIN place we can get up from tomorrow. Hope this clears it up for you mate.

Do You Loose When Ybs Loft Flying
JohnQuinn replied to PIGEONPACKMAN's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Sounds more like wires/roof aerial's to me if the others are returning together. jmo. -
The Lanarkshire Federation birds will return to Woolaston next weekend. It WILL BE A YEARLING DUPLICATION RACE. All monies from this week will be refunded to members, who can then re submit new pool sheets/entries for next week. Personally i'm pleased the president reached this decision. Saturday the 16th will be from Salisbury as per the program.

Nae word until 10.30 Stevie. Weather Dodgy at Woolaston i hear.

Sounds like a late entry has been made by the unicon user then. As far as i know you can put your clock into the Master timer enter the race again and make additions to it. Guy could have realised in the club that he had left one at home that he intended to send, so finished marking the 10 and went home for his 11th entry which was added to his original entries. ONLY explanation i can come up with.
-
Admittedly i know little about the ETS system, if maybe the guy with the bricon was running very late for something and was allowed to "cut in" without losing record of his first 10 of the guy who@s doo was late through. Canny really see what would be THAT important that i would let someone mark their birds right in the middle of my own being marked though.

Sent 10 Ck's with Lanarkshire to Woolaston (spelling???) 7 Yearlings entered into the Yearling Derby, 2x4yr old and 1x3yr old. I've not got my measurements for it but i'm told by the guy down from me that its about 240 & 1/2 miles.

When i get new stock in i rarely race them as young birds so that i can get some Yb's off them the following year, then they go into my race team. Good as well as bad get took by Pylons and Percy's so i like to have young birds out of them before risking their lives in the basket. Occasionally i keep incomers for stock only but they have to be out of something very special and be to my liking to be kept.
-
Only 1, late bred blue pied ck who lost 4 tail feathers, now nearly grown back. Flew Uttoxeter last week and will be sent to Woolaston this week, if he returns he will sit until next year.
-
That's probably Very accurate numbers for a lot of lofts just now. Some birds without a win to their name too, but what can you do if there aren't any others at that age in your loft, we just keep them in HOPE rather than expectation though.
-
1/2 Bro 1/2 Sis pairing is my Fav for the stock section, though they pairings have won racing, they invariably produce good racers when crossed with in coming stock or other inbred families. jmo.
-
The theme of the statement was, it disnae matter when or how ye lost them it was purely a numbers thing Rab. But i see where you're coming from.
-
For the record i've already got them so am no oan the Tap

Am almost tempted to come through and have a look ma self.

When the late Great Andrew Deans was with us i asked him why, when he was regarded as one of the VERY top fanciers in Scotland, he didn't sell pigeons. He replied, if i breed 50 Yb's a year, by the time training and racing was finished he might have say 30 left. By the time he raced them out to the coast and an occasional channel race as Yearlings he MIGHT have 12 to 15 left. By the time it comes to the end of their 2yr old season he might have 8/9/10 left from the original 50 bred. IF and he emphasised IF 3 or 4 of them scored from the Channel he had a good breeding season that year. BUT!! When he sold ( earlier in his time) 4 pigeons to Joe Bloggs, Joe Bloggs expected they 4 to transform their fortune and results, which was less than Logical, to say the Least. That was why he stopped selling pigeons. My Question is this, WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS from this years crop of Yb's????
-
Hi Jon91, where will you send your BEST pigeons to?? Just curious.

Great to have Derek back on site. I count Derek and his Doos in a SMALL group of TOP Scottish fanciers, men who's results demand that they Should be listened to, even if you don't agree with Everything they have to say.
