  1. Spot on Derek we learn every day. Well if we're no stupid we do!! A know a few stupid wans though
  2. Cheers mate, Pluto done 28.31 on the night so maybe my tip wasn't that bad after all.... Am tellin ye it was Peter that put the HEX on him
  3. Yer own officials should be well pleased with themselves too, as you's had a cracking sale as well despite both being on the same day.
  4. I stand corrected, well my mate does, as it was him who told me it was around a dozen races it had won since. I couldn't find the winning time of the final, do you know what time Sindaz Jack done in that final?
  5. Think you've named that tune in one Ian, but i couldn't make out the Falcon winning any of the duals, from what i can see it only got a feed from the owner when he swung the dead bird on the rope to get his falcon back.
  6. Very good advice as this thins the oil out and makes vaccinating much easier.
  7. Over the years i have always favoured Colombovac, there was a shortage of it a few years back too and i used the Nobilis that year. My preference is still Colombovac though and when possible i will always use it. The Colombovac is water based so is far safer to use for the fancier, the Nobilis is an oil based vaccine and can cause the type of complications noted above when the guy lost his finger, though i suspect he must Not have had it attended to right away which in turn caused him to lose his finger. IMO its WHEN you vaccinate them that determines how effective it works, i do mine at 20/21 days while still in the nest and have had no problems whatsoever with pmv when doing it at this time. In 2001 i wasn't too healthy with a bad depression and neglected my responsibility to vaccinate, this resulted in me losing 29 of 30 Yb,s in the November of that year and i almost gave up the birds altogether, it was only due to the friendship of Vincie Hendry who organised new stock for me from Ken Buchanan that i stayed in the sport. I've vaccinated them every season bar that one since it became law and in all honesty PMV hasn't been a problem in my lofts.
  8. My changes for next year were done this year, bred less Yb's so i will have a smaller but better quality birds for Ob season next year. Like some others i have too many stock birds, first time i've ever been in this position, so some of them will have to go too.
  9. Here's him running on finals night and what i was hoping he would do in the final, with better luck and without ye crawin him he would have imo! won out the park. http://youtu.be/oD-Y1T9RkEQ
  10. Cambusnethan and Morningside still have our presentation night in the Newmains club premises. Always a good night with top guests invited to present the trophies. £6 a ticket and ye canny get a seat in the place if ye don't book early. Clubs and Feds who don't have a night should IMO be ashamed of themselves. If ye don't attend them how can you possibly be inspired to do better with yer own doos, its beyond my reasoning.
  11. I'm sure we will be able to sort out a pic for him Watty, do you know which trophy he won?? Could even get it done Before the presentation night. Hope his health improves rapid though and he is able come along on the night. Send him my regards please.
  12. Away ya old craw ye, i bet the thing for about 3 months and as luck would have it the dog got knocked out of the Derby, probably your fault for yer negative thinking cos it went on a run of about 12 straight wins after that, winning another competition. So in future when i put a tip on you've no even tae look at the thread, probably had one o they shirts on when ye were crawin it tae.
  13. Aye Billy it was a good sale, I'm neither up nor down whatever my birds sell for but I have had 4 different fanciers feedback to me this year that my doos have flown well for them and one I gifted to a friend was on the front cover of the BHW, that's where I get my satisfaction from, the price paid doesn't mean much to me at all.
  14. My own only done 55 quid Derek and although ma results are no where near yours over the last 3 years that is more of a reflection on me not the doos. The sire of mine is direct from a 1st W/sec hen when paired to a direct son of a 1st Open gold cup winner paired to a Jim Cullen silver award winner. The dam is a Grizzle hen I bought from Eadie & Kelly's 4th Sec 27th Open Alencon. So the bloodlines are imo impeccable but the bidders didnae fancy it, the doo has flown 5 races and was in great condition. The more mature Yb's seemed to struggle for bids though they will be easily broken when paired up next year. I still Thank both you and Johnny for your support Derek and I am as dumbfounded as yourself that yours didn't make 3 figures.
  15. Aye Jamie it was a marvelous gesture and the breeding in it can only improve my lofts. Same can be said about the Jock Alston yb too. The support from everyone has took us forward 20 years in just 9 months, I'm now convinced that we will go from strength to strength over the next couple of years and will achieve our target of buying brand new lorries for the Fed that will see us well established for years to come.
  16. Thanks Jamie, with all the officials working full time jobs it really has been a team effort, Gareth in particular has worked tirelessly this season and wee Jim Cullen and his family have grafted too. Without their support and experience we could not have done so much in such a short time. All we need now is for the members to come along in numbers to the Presentation night to finish off what has been a landmark season for all Federation members.
  17. Playing a lot of Pool and working 2 jobs totaling aroind 60 hours a week should keep.me busy. On top of that organising meetings the presentation night and sitting on the SHU committees when work alows it. So as you'll guess.spare time will be thin on the ground, as per Usual! !
  18. The sale today showed more than anything else that the members are right behind us ( the committee) giving birds from their Very best stock and racing birds. Thank you all. Even more Gratitude is due to the Friends we have from around the country who also donated fantastic Yb's to suit all distances and fanciers preferences. I would like to put it on record that Ian Lindsay of the Lindsay & Henderson partnership bought his own lot for quite considerable money and promptly gifted it to me. An unprecedented gesture from a true friend, THANK YOU Ian Your generosity humbled me. I was also lucky enough to purchase the J & I Alston Yb, further strengthening the stock in my lofts. All I need now is the time to get the best out of them !!
  19. Remember you can place commission bids with Jim, Gareth or myself, phone numbers are on the first post, hope to see a lot of you's there though. Nice day for a wee trip too so jump in the car and come along. atvb John.
  20. Really looking forward to the sale tomorrow, hope to take a couple home with me for my stock section. Have had some commission bids placed and its looking like we will have a very successful day. Autioneer for the day will be Jim O'Hara who will give bidders every opportunity to buy their preferred lot/s that they've come for.

If let up in a split lib we wpildn't have to wait until the next mornning for our doos and if John McNeil flew in Section B or C he would take TOP ppsotions there too. Ifs and buts don't come into it though, Facts are what matter and Fact is John races in Sec D.
