  1. With the 2017 season to look forward to Any loft changes New stock Systems Goals ? Myself , been making loft changes to accommodate hens on widowhood rather than celibate Housed racing celibate cocks in stock loft , more room heat etc New blood from one of the norths finest which I'm sure will make a fine cross Still got jobs to finish for friends then put retractable dowel partition system in loft with celibate cocks to allow easy handling also trapping / exercise door or similar once I've came up with best idea Goals , definitely be entering more birds at channel races with the hope of achieving some good results or memorable moments Good Luck to All

  20. Good point John When the new motorway had just been completed down our way and obviously stretches of it were following new lines I tossed the old birds at gretna and when on the new motorway North of ecclefechan I caught up with my batch of birds racing up the south bound lane and rising to clear the oncoming lorries before finally going back over open fields what I had witnessed was their line of flight which smart *expletive removed* humans had now built a motorway on Strange but true lol
  21. Gazette March 1950 J Hamilton Ferniegaire Good wee write up included was For the past 4years he has been the leading prize winner in the Lanarkshire Social Circle and for almost 10 Successive years was never out of the first 30 in the SNFC Also 1st section 3rd open Dol with Wee Kate ,a remarkable feature about this she did not have a mate and flew to the YB loft where she quickly resented all approaches by the young cocks
  22. Matthew White & Son Paisley Dec1957 When the name of Matt White of Paisley is mentioned one particular pigeon always springs to mind ,Scotch King the famous grizzle cock 17 GF 802 whose wins are now a Legend 3rd SNFC Rennes 1921 Vel698 9th NSFC Rennes 1922 Vel 816 1st SNFC Rennes 1923 Vel1488 Another pillar of the family was ladt lane a blue Cheq hen bred of a brother of scotch king ,This hen was 16th 72nd and 80th Rennes and was 6 Years Old at her first channel crossing . Spanish Leader ---a direct descendant of these set up a unique performance in 1936 winning 4th section G San Sebastián 871 miles ,This cock was previously 53rd SNFC Rennes thus winning in both Scottish and English Nationals Beans make up 75% of the diet all year round the remainder is made up of Maize The most successful cross in recent years were two mealy cocks from Davy Angus from Symington .
  23. West of Scotland by Full Circle David Davidson and son Rigside To spotlight the west of Scotland pigeon personality of the year would be an unenviable task but one fancier with a strong claim to the honour would be David Davidson .His is a name we have come to expect in every national prize list and since 1925 when he was 3rd SNFC Rennes at his first attempt he has seldom Dissappointed is .It was with these thoughts in mind that I travelled through to this remote corner of Lanarkshire .A mere 20 old birds and 20 young birds were housed in a modest 18 ft loft ,but what this team lacked in numbers it more than made up for in quality ,Of the 20 old birds 10 had flown Rennes or Nantes ,2 Guernsey and 5 were yearlings flown Weymouth .Pride of place is shared between two 2yo hens ,RCH 5207 and blue hen 5225. 5207 arrived from Rennes at 8-12 pm to win 3rd West Section 7th open and £301 .Of medium size strong eyesign and was sent 14 days on eggs ,second flight half grown . 5225 was timed at 4-23 pm 2 nd day Nantes winning 10th section 81st open ,She was 2nd Weymouth in 1956 and 2nd weymouth 1957 both times beaten by a loft mate .5225 is a lovely hen of striking appearance ,From David's comments I feel this hen will carry most of his hopes in next years national . Two other outstanding performers this year were blue hen 53.11419 timed at 9 pm Rennes 77th Open and £251 .Last year 7th Section ,51st Open and £94 ,And a fine red Cheq cock 54.11877 ,a prise winner from Nantes .He and the blue hen 5225 were the lofts only two entries in this race .They were mated together and sent to hatching Eggs
