True John As I've said on here before in the early 1990's whilst living on the outskirts of moffat along with my late father in law Peter and my friend Jim we witnessed one female falcon attacking and scattering the Lanarkshire yb convoy as it made its way past Beattock on route from Locharbriggs birds eventually regrouped and headed north from all directions phoned jocky Harrison and told him as it happened It really has f-- Our great sport Should add lads there are birds in moffat we will try and get in what we can and get them up the road
-
Been working all day but my friend jim is round visiting just now he says batch of 50 plus went past at 2 oclock and groups of 5 and 10 all afternoon club lads are due in 30 minutes to get result done by Julie will see how they have went from shap 11-30 lib

The best post on basics for quite some time Lets put that forward to the AGM and get it passed Time our birds got the best possible conditions to travel as we the fancier afford them when they are in the loft
-
Derek my good mate stevie sits down at his lofts he does not own a mobile wouldn't even want to be shown how to work one He enjoys sitting at his lofts not knowing if he's first or last until the clocks open that's the way he likes it ,and after the debacle of a few years ago perhaps we would all be better doing the same Atb At Falaise
-
Pleased for you John on the return of your good bird
-
That is a very good point ,no matter how big the disaster over the years the same group of fanciers manage to time not all the time but more often than not . I do personally feel the coincidence of the young falcons taking to wing and being taught to hunt at this exact time of year plays a very major factor in the decimation of convoys at the early stages thus the quality pigeons have the know how to go it alone ,yes a good percentage of these will also be targeted The black cock that was returned from alencon is in wonderful condition but only flies onto the landing looks skyward and goes straight back into the safety of the loft repeating this many times having had experience of the falcon for well over 25 years these are the traits that pigeons targeted develop some never regaining their nerve ,some cope better than others One thing for certain my friends it ain't going to improve . I cannot condition any better the two cocks for falaise tonight if they come up trumps fair and good but more often than not it will be the last time I handle them They are only a passing acquaintance nowadays enjoy them when they are there Atb Mick
